Two orders of wall‐to‐wall geographic data

open access: yesArea, EarlyView.
Short Abstract The use of the term ‘wall‐to‐wall’ to describe geographically extensive data without any singular definition in the remote sensing and geographically related analysis. This work presents an assessment of the application of the term in the scientific literature. Abstract From personal observations of recent published works, the term “wall‐

Morphology and distribution of lakes under the Laurentide Ice Sheet: implications for ice flow dynamics

open access: yesBoreas, EarlyView.
This study examines the distribution and morphology of lakes under the Laurentide Ice Sheet (LIS) to investigate relationships with ice flow velocity, bedrock and basal thermal regime. Palaeo‐ice streams and lobes were important components of the LIS, and properties of lakes in those regions are quantified at high resolution.

Effects of landscape context on avian specialist response to increased surface temperature in protected areas

open access: yesConservation Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Human development is a driver of global change and a major threat to biodiversity. Protected areas maintain and support biodiversity, but outside stressors, such as climate change and land use change, can negatively influence natural resources within protected areas.

Spectroradiometric calibration of the Thematic Mapper and Multispectral Scanner system [PDF]

open access: yes
The reduction of the data measured on July 8, 1984 at White Sands, New Mexico is summarized. The radiance incident at the entrance pupil of the LANDSAT 5 sensors have been computed for bands 1 to 4. When these are compared to the digital counts of the TM

Tourist visits to Madagascar's protected areas linked to deforestation decreases within but increases outside protected area boundaries

open access: yesConservation Science and Practice, EarlyView.
Abstract Tourist visits to protected areas (PAs) are a widely promoted, yet largely untested, approach to achieve forest conservation and socioeconomic development. We assessed the impacts of annual tourist visits to 40 Madagascar PAs over 20 years on local deforestation in and around PA boundaries, using a two‐way fixed effects approach to control for
