Pattern change and ecological risk analysis of Shilin World Geopark landscape

open access: yesFrontiers in Ecology and Evolution
This study considered Shilin World Geopark as the research object and constructed a landscape ecological risk assessment model based on the landscape pattern index by using remote sensing image data during five periods between 2000 and 2020. In addition,

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Response of the Desertification Landscape Patterns to Spatial–Temporal Changes of Land Use: A Case Study of Salaxi in South China Karst

open access: yesLand, 2023
Land use change and karst desertification (KD) are interdependent. It is crucial to investigate the relationship between the KD landscape and spatial–temporal changes in land use for effective and sustainable KD management practices in karst plateau ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

PM2.5 Sink-Source Dichotomy in Urban Clusters: Land Cover Efficiency Gradients and Socio-Meteorological Interactions

open access: yesAtmosphere
Urban clusters face escalating atmospheric challenges, with elevated PM2.5 concentrations representing a critical environmental constraint. This study investigates spatiotemporal evolution mechanisms of PM2.5 within China’s Taiyuan-Yuci-Xinzhou (TYX ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Analysis of the Evolution of Land Use Carbon Metabolism Patterns and the Response to Urban Form Changes in Haikou, China

open access: yesLand
It is increasingly recognized that urban planning is essential in promoting low-carbon urban development, and the research on urban carbon metabolism patterns informs the theoretical support for carbon neutrality through urban structural optimization. To

Integrated genomic and proteomic profiling reveals insights into chemoradiation resistance in cervical cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A comprehensive genomic and proteomic analysis of cervical cancer revealed STK11 and STX3 as a potential biomarkers of chemoradiation resistance. Our study demonstrated EGFR as a therapeutic target, paving the way for precision strategies to overcome treatment failure and the DNA repair pathway as a critical mechanism of resistance.

Reduced vascular leakage correlates with breast carcinoma T regulatory cell infiltration but not with metastatic propensity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A mouse model for vascular normalization and a human breast cancer cohort were studied to understand the relationship between vascular leakage and tumor immune suppression. For this, endothelial and immune cell RNAseq, staining for vascular function, and immune cell profiling were employed.
