Environmental reconstruction of a Langhian patch reef (East Kalimantan, Indonesia)

open access: yes, 2012
The development of isolated patch reefs within siliciclastic sediments epitomise the Miocene carbonate deposits of East Kalimantan, Indonesia. A team of Marie Curie Early Stage Researchers and Principal Investigators from the THROUGHFLOW project collaborated in reconstructing a mixed system, delta-front patch-reef.

AN INTEGRATED CALCAREOUS PLANKTON BIOSTRATIGRAPHIC SCHEME AND BIOCHRONOLOGY FOR THE MEDITERRANEAN MIDDLE MIOCENE

open access: yesRivista Italiana di Paleontologia e Stratigrafia, 2002
The relative position of 30 main bioevents  pertaining to calcareous nannofossils and planktonic foraminifera was identified in the time interval between 13.75 Ma and 10.50 Ma, based on the quantitative study of the those microfossils in three ...

A Paleotectonic Atlas of the African Plate: Permian to Recent

open access: yesJournal of Petroleum Geology, Volume 48, Issue 4, Page 231-279, October 2025.
ABSTRACT The fragmentary release of petroleum data defining the deep structure and stratigraphy of African basins has been integrated with existing literature to compile 19 tectonic maps over key geological intervals from Permian to Recent times. African plate margins range in their age of opening from Late Triassic (off Lebanon), through Early/Middle ...

Modelling the evolution of the Guadalquivir foreland basin (South Spain). [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Previous quantitative studies dealing with the origin of foreland basins have focused primarily either on the rheological basis of the lithosphere mechanical response or on the relationship between orogenic loading and sediment geometry.

Orbitally Paced Hydroclimate Changes in Western Amazonia Wetlands During the Middle Miocene

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 52, Issue 18, 28 September 2025.
Abstract Carbon cycling in tropical wetlands may have significantly influenced climate variability during past phases of global warmth, such as during hyperthermal events. However, poorly resolved age models for terrestrial sections hamper correlations with global events.

Structural styles and Neogene petroleum system around the Yusuf-Habibas Ridge (Alboran Basin, Mediterranean Sea)

open access: yes, 2012
International audienceThe Algerian offshore is part of the southern margin of the western Mediterranean Sea. The western part of this offshore area represents the transitional margin between the South Algero-Balearic Basin and the Alboran Basin.

THE OSTRACODS IN THE PALAEOENVIRONMENTAL INTERPRETATION OF THE LATE LANGHIAN - EARLY SERRAVALLIAN SECTION OF RAS IL-PELLEGRIN (MALTA)

open access: yesRivista Italiana di Paleontologia e Stratigrafia, 2002
The distribution of ostracods in the composed Langhian-Serravallian section of Ras il Pellegrin (Malta) has been studied quantitatively to define the evolution of both the assemblages and the palaeoenvironmental conditions.

Comment on “Chronostratigraphic ranges of Early–Middle Miocene larger benthic foraminifera calibrated by planktonic foraminiferal assemblages (Sierra de Marmolance, Granada, SE Spain)” by Bolivar-Feriche et al. (2025) [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Micropalaeontology
Bolivar-Feriche et al. (2025) conducted an integrated biostratigraphic study of some stratigraphic sections cropping out at the Sierra de Marmolance (SE Spain), proposing a significant extension of the chronostratigraphic ranges of several well ...
