A technique for direct observation of particle motion under shear in a Langmuir monolayer
Journal of Rheology, 1997We have used fluorescence microscopy to observe the effect of shear on rigid two-dimensional structures residing in a Langmuir monolayer. Monolayers of 12-NBD stearic acid undergo a two-dimensional liquid-to-solid transition on the water surface.

Diffusion barrier characteristics of co monolayer prepared by Langmuir Blodgett technique
Applied Surface Science, 2016Abstract Monolayers of Co over SiO2/Si substrate were deposited using Langmuir Blodgett (LB) technique. The diffusion barrier capability of Co layer was evaluated against copper diffusion. The structure of the deposited Co layer was analyzed using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS) and Atomic force ...

Large 2D monolayer assemblies of iron oxide nanocrystals by the Langmuir–Blodgett technique
Superlattices and Microstructures, 2009Abstract Dense monolayer assemblies of iron oxide nanoparticles have been obtained on large areas using the Langmuir–Blodgett technique. The density and ordering of the film were found to depend on the quality of the nanoparticle suspensions, which should display monodisperse nanoparticles and no free molecules.

Langmuir monolayers at the air/water interface are frequently used to establish a pseudo-physiological environment needed to study peptides and proteins properties to mimic their interaction with the cell membrane. The self-assembled monolayers formed at the air/water interface that respond to external stimuli and re-structure upon interaction with ...

Hydrophobic monolayer preparation by Langmuir–Blodgett and chemical adsorption techniques
Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 2008Alkylsiloxane and perfluoroalkylsiloxane monolayers are prepared on siliceous surfaces using the techniques of Langmuir-Blodgett deposition and solid-liquid chemical adsorption. Acid-catalyzed hydrolysis and polycondensation reactions provide two-dimensional siloxane networks at the liquid-vapor interface, which can be compressed to mean molecular ...

Thiophene-based monolayer OFETs prepared by Langmuir techniques
SPIE Proceedings, 2015A novel fast, easily processible and highly reproducible approach to thiophene-based monolayer OFETs fabrication by Langmuir-Blodgett or Langmuir-Schaefer techniques was developed and successfully applied. It is based on selfassembly of organosilicon derivatives of oligothiophenes or benzothienobenzothiophene on the water-air interface.

We have earlier investigated the interaction of the antipsychotic drugs chlorpromazine(CPZ) and olanzapine(OLP) with glycerophospholipid monolayers. These experiments were carried out at high and low temperatures and showed that OLP had a more pronounced effect on the packing of the phospholipid (PL) monolayers than CPZ.

We report here the effect of salt (KCl) on the interfacial surface activity of yeast alcohol dehydogenease (ADH) at air/water interface using the Langmuir-Blodgett technique. Effect of salt content in the water subphase on ADH structure has been studied.
