Synthesis and application of alginate@CuFe2O4 polymeric spheres in 17‐β‐estradiol adsorption processes in Amazonian rivers

open access: yesPolymer International, EarlyView.
Magnetic alginate beads, functionalized with copper ferrite, effectively remove 17‐β‐estradiol from Amazonian water, exhibiting optimized 238.65 μg g−1 capacity, fast 40 min kinetics, easy recovery, and successful remediation. Abstract The presence of endocrine‐disrupting compounds, such as 17‐β‐estradiol, in aquatic ecosystems poses a significant ...

Influence of sulfonation degree and deposition technique on the electrical and morphological properties of sulfonated polystyrene thin films

open access: yesPolymer International, EarlyView.
Sulfonated polystyrene films with different degrees of sulfonation were fabricated using Langmuir–Schaefer and drop‐casting techniques. Both the deposition method and sulfonation level strongly affect film morphology and electrical response, governing the performance of these materials as ammonia gas sensors.

Photonic nanovoids for tailored optoelectronic response in silicon solar cells

open access: yesResponsive Materials, EarlyView.
Optoelectronic workflow followed by experimental validation, demonstrating state‐of‐the‐art efficiency gains. Abstract As crystalline silicon (c‐Si) solar cells become thinner to reduce cost and weight, the optical design principles that govern light trapping (LT) must evolve.

On the Interaction between Digitonin and Cholesterol in Langmuir Monolayers

open access: yesLangmuir, 2016
In this article, we describe the effect of a highly hemolytic saponin, digitonin, on model lipids cholesterol and dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine (DPPC) using a combination of tensiometric (surface pressure and dilatational surface elasticity), spectroscopic (infrared reflection absorption spectroscopy, IRRAS), microscopic (fluorescence microscopy), and

Metal‐Free Ternary‐Composite Aerogel Based on Graphitic Carbon Nitride, Graphene Oxide, and β‐Cyclodextrin for Synergistic Adsorption and Photodegradation of Organic Dyes

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
A novel metal‐free g‐C3N4/GO/β‐CD aerogel exhibits a high adsorption capacity of 653.2 mg/g for RhB. The synergistic adsorption‐degradation effect of the aerogel enables the complete elimination of organic dyes. Fixed‐bed and recyclability tests demonstrate its potential for continuous industrial wastewater treatment.
