Semantic Modeling in Materials Science and Engineering With Platform MaterialDigital Core Ontology 3.0

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The community‐driven Platform MaterialDigital Core Ontology (PMDco) 3.0 is introduced as a Basic Formal Ontology‐aligned semantic backbone for the processing–structure–properties paradigm in Materials Science and Engineering. Modular engineering, automated releases, and validation workflows are highlighted and key semantic patterns for materials ...

Model‐Guided Design of Paper Membrane Architectures for Controlled Flow and Enhanced Diagnostic Sensitivity

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Geometrical modifications on nitrocellulose membranes can result in observable differences in signal intensity relative to a reference membrane (top and bottom left). Using two reference experiments, we have developed a theoretical model that can reproduce the experimentally observed flow changes and provide information on membrane parameters, e.g ...

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Historical Foundation and Practical Guideline for Ferroelectric Switching Kinetic Studies

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The P and U pulses in the conventional PUND measurements are not identical because of the interplay between switching current and the measurement circuit components. This circuit effect can lead to a shift in polarization transients and misinterpreted physics in the switching kinetics.

Translated Versus Nontranslated Languages Again: A Multidimensional Analysis of State Addresses of Nine Countries

open access: yesSAGE Open
Corpus-based translation studies (CTS) on translation universals that distinguish translated language as a distinct variety have been criticized for their monofactorial design and auto-isolation.

Entropy Rate Estimates for Natural Language—A New Extrapolation of Compressed Large-Scale Corpora

open access: yesEntropy, 2016
One of the fundamental questions about human language is whether its entropy rate is positive. The entropy rate measures the average amount of information communicated per unit time. The question about the entropy of language dates back to experiments by

From Photoalignment to Structured Light: Liquid Crystal Platforms for Beam Shaping and Complex Wavefronts

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Photoaligned and photopatterned liquid crystal platforms provide programmable control of optical phase, polarization, and spin‐orbit interactions, enabling compact generation of structured light and complex wavefronts. This review highlights how tailored molecular orientations transform simple beams into designed optical fields, opening versatile ...

Investigating Three Morphemes “-ænæ”, “-æwæ” and “-æɾæ” in Hawrami: Postposition or Case Marker [PDF]

open access: yesمطالعات زبان‌‌ها و گویش‌های غرب ایران, 2015
In this paper we have investigated three frequent morphemes in Hawrami of Paveh, namely, “-ænæ”, “-æwæ” and “-æɾæ”. The nature of these morphemes is unknown. They are attached to nouns with a meaning like that of adpositions. We aim to explore what these

Corpus et alternance codique : que peut nous apprendre une approche comparative ?

open access: yesCorela, 2013
This article aims at demonstrating that corpus-based research is the methodology that is most apt at correctly describing the phenomena involved in code-switching.
