Ultra‐Durable Information‐Encoded Anti‐Counterfeiting Self‐Assembled Nanocrystal Labels

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Ultra‐durable cost‐effective information‐encoded anti‐counterfeiting labels are fabricated to secure semiconductor chips. A novel method is used to self‐assemble colloidal quantum wells (CQWs) into color bars. Information can be encoded spatially, spectrally, and opto‐spatially.

Unlocking Two‐Photon Chiral Signatures in DNA‐Stabilized Silver Nanoclusters: Two‐Photon Circular Dichroism and Circularly Polarized Luminescence

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Chiroptical properties of DNA‐stabilized silver nanocluster (DNA)2[Ag16Cl2]8+ are presented in linear and nonlinear regime. These water‐soluble, NIR‐emitting nanoprobes demonstrate exceptionally high two‐photon circular dichroism and circularly polarized luminescence brightness.

Thermodynamic consistencies and anomalies among end-member lanthanoid garnets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Lanthanoid (or lanthanide) garnets are ionic solids of technological importance in their use in electronic materials. They are also of interest in respect of their systematic relationships and as geochemical tracers.

Accelerating Luminescence in Nanostructures: Exploring the Physical Limits and Impact of Ultrafast Emission in Nanoscale Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
This review highlights recent advances in accelerating luminescence in nanostructures through cooperative emission, resonator coupling, and nonlocal light–matter interactions. By unifying concepts such as excitonic superradiance, superfluorescence, and the plasmonic Purcell effect, it reveals physical limits of ultrafast emission and their potential ...

Energy and Nutrient Intake Monitoring [PDF]

open access: yes
A passive system to determine the in-flight intake of nutrients is developed. Nonabsorbed markers placed in all foods in proportion to the nutrients selected for study are analyzed by neutron activation analysis.

An investigation on the role of ytterbium in ytterbium promoted y-alumina-supported nickel catalysts for dry reforming of methane [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Addition of low quantities of ytterbium to sol-gel prepared Ni/yAl2O3 catalysts has been shown to lead to significant increases in catalytic activity and long term stability in the catalytic conversion of CO2 and CH4 into syngas (H2 and CO).

NIR‐Triggered Upconversion‐Perovskite Heterostructures for Non‐Genetic, Implant‐Free Optoelectronic Neuromodulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The Single‐Nanostructured Optoelectronic Vehicle for neuromodulation Activation (SNOVA) establishes a paradigm for non‐genetic, implant‐free neuromodulation. By integrating NIR‐excitable UCNPs with broadband‐absorbing perovskite QDs, SNOVA efficiently converts deeply penetrating light into localized electric fields that modulate neuronal ion dynamics ...

Enhancing Cycling Stability of Aqueous Aluminum‐Metal Batteries via LaCl3‐Modulated Interfacial Reactions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In the aqueous AlCl3 electrolyte of aluminum‐metal batteries, the introduction of LaCl3 adjusts the solvation structure of Al3+ and enhances its diffusion level. The oxide precipitate formed by La3+ covers the aluminum metal anode and effectively alleviates corrosion reactions, thereby improving the cycling stability of the battery.

Topological Analysis of Void Spaces in Tungstate Frameworks: Assessing Storage Properties for the Environmentally Important Guest Molecules and Ions: CO2, UO2, PuO2, U, Pu, Sr2+, Cs+, CH4, and H2 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The identification of inorganic materials, which are able to encapsulate environmentally important small molecules or ions via host-guest interactions, is crucial for the design and development of next-generation energy sources and for storing ...
