Occurrence and integrated control of major rice diseases in China
Rice is constantly under threat from a variety of pathogens. This review highlights the major diseases affecting rice in China, including three fungal diseases, two bacterial diseases, two viral diseases, and one nematode. The review also proposes future directions for an integrated approach to control these significant rice diseases.

Toll-like receptors (TLRs) are the critical superfamily homologues that initiate sensing of the invasion of pathogens by the Toll pathway. As one of several intracellular nucleic acid-sensing TLRs, TLR13 is activated by an unmethylated motif present in ...

Diverse viruses employ various pathogenicity strategies to inhibit host antiviral defense for successful infection. However, the pathogenic mechanisms conserved among different viruses have rarely been studied. This discovery unveils a broad‐spectrum counter‐defense strategy across evolutionarily distinct viral proteins, highlighting a new strategy for

In this study, a novel plant dwarfing index (PDI) was developed to quantitatively evaluate rice resistance to rice black‐streaked dwarf virus disease, providing a more accurate assessment tool than traditional incidence rate‐based method for rice breeding programs and disease resistance research. Abstract Rice black‐streaked dwarf virus disease (RBSDVD)

Novel Mito‐Nuclear Combinations Facilitate the Global Invasion of a Major Agricultural Crop Pest
Here, the study describes a novel invasion mechanism displayed by fall armyworm that facilitates its expansion and establishment in new environments. The rice strain used increases energy metabolism, faster wing‐beat frequencies, and lower wing loadings to drive greater flight performance, while corn stran adapts with more relaxed mitochondria and ...

Rice Black-streaked Dwarf Virus Preparation and Infection on Rice
Rice black-streaked dwarf virus (RBSDV), a member of genus Fijivirus in the family Reoviridae, infects rice, maize, barley and wheat, and can seriously affect crop yields. RBSDV is transmitted by the small brown planthopper (Laodelphax striatellus, SBPH)

Abstract Daphnia magna is a test organism used for ecological risk assessments of pesticides, but little is known about the expression levels of cytochrome P450s (CYP)s and their changes after pesticide exposure in the less than 24‐h‐olds used for ecotoxicity tests. In this study, D.

Estimating the genome sizes of nine insect species using flow cytometry and K-mer analysis
The flow cytometry method was used to estimate the genome sizes of nine agriculturally important insects, including two coleopterans, five hemipterans and two hymenopterans. Among which, the coleopteran Lissorhoptrus oryzophilus had the largest genome of
