Laparoscopic subtotal colectomy for synchronous colon high‐grade dysplasia adenomas in intestinal malrotation: A case report and literature review

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, 2019
Intestinal malrotation is an embryologic anomaly rarely presenting in adults especially in association with colon cancer. Fully laparoscopic colonic resection has not yet described in literature for adenomas in malrotation.

Functional Advantage of Central Pancreatectomy Over Distal Pancreatectomy for Benign or Low‐Grade Malignant Tumors: A Comparative Analysis Based on 75‐g Oral Glucose Tolerance Test

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
Central pancreatectomy (CP) better preserves postoperative pancreatic endocrine function than distal pancreatectomy for benign or low‐grade malignant tumors. The 75‐g oral glucose tolerance test demonstrated that CP maintained insulin secretion and glucose tolerance, highlighting its clinical advantage as a function‐preserving procedure.

Outcomes of a virtual-reality simulator-training programme on basic surgical skills in robot-assisted laparoscopic surgery [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Background The utility of the virtual-reality robotic simulator in training programmes has not been clearly evaluated. Our aim was to evaluate the impact of a virtual-reality robotic simulator-training programme on basic surgical skills.

Prospective Feasibility Study of Laparoscopic and Robotic Distal Gastrectomy for Advanced Gastric Cancer to Verify the Safety of Surgical Proximal Margins

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Ensuring an adequate surgical proximal margin (SPM) is crucial in radical gastrectomy for gastric cancer. However, the lack of tactile feedback in laparoscopic distal gastrectomy (LDG) and robotic distal gastrectomy (RDG) poses challenges in precisely determining tumor boundaries, particularly in advanced gastric cancer, where tumor ...

Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery [PDF]

open access: yesThe Permanente Journal, 2008
Laparoscopic colon resections are being performed with increasing frequency in the United States, though the use of minimally invasive techniques in colorectal surgery has lagged behind its application in other surgical fields. Since the first laparoscopic colectomy was described in 1991, a great deal of controversy has surrounded its use, particularly

Serum Bile Acids Are Useful Indicators of Intrahepatic Recurrence After Initial Curative Hepatectomy for Hepatocellular Carcinoma

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim Bile acids accumulation in hepatocytes causes liver damage and contributes to the development of hepatocellular carcinoma. However, the association between serum bile acid levels and postoperative intrahepatic recurrence in hepatocellular carcinoma remains unclear.
