Repair of an Externally Corroded Pressure Vessel Using Internal Lap Patches and Weld Buildup

Volume 3: Design and Analysis, 2009
This paper presents a newly applied hybrid method for the repair of a tall pressure vessel which has been badly corroded in several areas with a couple of pin-holed leaks caused by corrosion under insulation (CUI). Due to the defective areas being on high elevations, and therefore lacking immediate accessibility, and due to adverse weather conditions ...

The determination of dynamic strength of single lap joints using the split Hopkinson pressure bar

International Journal of Adhesion and Adhesives, 2011
The current investigation focuses on the determination of the strength of adhesive-bonded single lap joints under impact with the use of a split Hopkinson pressure bar (Kolsky bar). For this, experiments were conducted at different loading rates, for identical metallic adherends bonded by a two-part epoxy adhesive.

Collapsing Pressures of Bessemer Steel Lap-Welded Tubes, Three to Ten Inches in Diameter

Transactions of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, 1906
Abstract This research was undertaken for the purpose of supplying an urgent demand for reliable information on the behavior of modern wrought tubes when subjected to fluid collapsing pressure. Every means known to engineering science that could aid in the accomplishment of this undertaking has been used, and every possible effort made ...

Cracking of a Pressure Vessel During Autofrettage Because of Scale Worked Into Forging Laps and Seams

2019
Abstract During autofrettage of a thick-wall steel pressure vessel, a crack developed through the wall of the component. Certain forged pressure vessels are subjected to autofrettage during their manufacture to induce residual compressive stresses at locations where fatigue cracks may initiate.
