Designing Wire Mazes for Replicating Natural Echoes to Study Bat Biosonar Function

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
A validated framework combining efficient physical modeling (multiple scattering model) and deep learning is presented to guide wire‐maze design for bat biosonar studies. This approach rapidly generates large datasets to test acoustic distinguishability among wire arrangements.

3D Closed‐Loop Navigation of Magnetic Microswimmers Using Vision‐Derived Depth Feedback

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
A planar magnetic microswimmer is navigated in three dimensions under a standard microscope. Image defocus supplies a real‐time depth cue, and model‐predictive control with A* planning steers the body on surfaces and in free swimming. Axial position is regulated by propulsion alone, without magnetic field gradients or extra cameras.

Building Shared Alignment for Agile at Scale: A Tool-Supported Method for Cross-Stakeholder Process Synthesis

open access: yesSoftware
Organizations increasingly rely on Agile software development to navigate the complexities of digital transformation. Agile emphasizes flexibility, empowerment, and emergent design, yet large-scale initiatives often extend beyond single teams to include ...

Hybrid Granular–Elastomer Jamming With Confinement‐Mediated Stiffening

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
A granular–elastomer hybrid jamming medium enables isotropic, repeatable stiffness modulation by exploiting vacuum‐induced confinement of an elastomeric network rather than particle friction. The actuator supports large 3D deformations (bending, folding, and twisting), retains programmed shapes when unjammed, and achieves an ~8× stiffness increase and ...

Dual‐Timescale 3D Synaptic Pillars: Monolithic Integration of Volatile and Nonvolatile Functions for Advanced Neuromorphic Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
A 3D vertically integrated synaptic pillar with an n–p–n–p–n channel is proposed within a compact footprint for neuromorphic computing. By combining volatile 1T‐DRAM and non‐volatile SONOS tiers, the system mitigates refresh power overhead. Optimized by an adaptive dynamic pulse scheme, the device achieves high linearity and 87% MNIST classification ...

Perspectives on Productivity and Delays in Large-Scale Agile Projects

open access: yes, 2013
Many large and distributed companies run agile projects in development environments that are inconsistent with the original agile ideas. Problems that result from these inconsistencies can affect the productivity of development projects and the timeliness of releases. To be effective in such contexts, the agile ideas need to be adapted.

How Organizations Learn and Innovate to Institutionalize Generative AI: Trust, Feedback Loops, and Cultural Friction

open access: yesAI &Innovation, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study examines how organizations advance in their use of Generative AI (GenAI) tools after initial adoption with particular attention to the dynamics of trust, cultural resistance, and feedback mechanisms. Grounded in organizational learning theory and institutional theory, we propose a framework that captures the factors influencing how ...
