Attention Guided Low-Light Image Enhancement with a Large Scale Low-Light Simulation Dataset

International Journal of Computer Vision, 2019
Low-light image enhancement is challenging in that it needs to consider not only brightness recovery but also complex issues like color distortion and noise, which usually hide in the dark.

Large scale molecular simulations of nanotoxicity

WIREs Systems Biology and Medicine, 2014
The widespread use of nanomaterials in biomedical applications has been accompanied by an increasing interest in understanding their interactions with tissues, cells, and biomolecules, and in particular, on how they might affect the integrity of cell membranes and proteins. In this mini‐review, we present a summary of some of the recent studies on this

Large-scale multi-phase simulation of proton exchange membrane fuel cell

International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 2019
Limited by the computational efficiency and stability, traditional 3D (three-dimensional) CFD (computational fluid dynamics) simulations of PEMFC (proton exchange membrane fuel cell) are always in single-channel scale, which neglect the realistic flow ...

Simulation Of Large-Scale Queueing Systems

ECMS 2018 Proceedings edited by Lars Nolle, Alexandra Burger, Christoph Tholen, Jens Werner, Jens Wellhausen, 2018
In this paper we consider the dynamics of large-scale queueing systems with an infinite number of servers. We assume that a Poisson input flow of requests with intensity Nλ. We suppose that each incoming request selects two any servers randomly and a next step of an algorithm includes sending this request to the server with the shorter queue instantly.

The Well: a Large-Scale Collection of Diverse Physics Simulations for Machine Learning

Neural Information Processing Systems
Machine learning based surrogate models offer researchers powerful tools for accelerating simulation-based workflows. However, as standard datasets in this space often cover small classes of physical behavior, it can be difficult to evaluate the efficacy

Large Scale Numerical Simulations of the Climate

2017 IEEE 24th Symposium on Computer Arithmetic (ARITH), 2017
The Met Office Hadley Centre for Climate Science and Services, based at the Met Office's Exeter HQ, provides world-class guidance on the science of climate change and is the primary focus in the UK for climate science. The Hadley Centre makes significant contributions to scientific literature and to a variety of climate science reports, including the ...

Large–scale simulations of concentrated emulsion flows

Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London. Series A: Mathematical, Physical and Engineering Sciences, 2003
Applications of the newly developed hybrid of the boundary integral and economical multipole techniques to large-scale dynamical simulations of concentrated emulsion flows of deformable drops are considered. For N = O(10(2)-10(3)) drops in a periodic cell with O(10(3)) boundary elements per drop, the method has two to three orders of magnitude gain ...

Visualization of Large-Scale Neural Simulations

2014
The widespread availability of modern infrastructures able to process large amounts of data and run sophisticated models of complex phenomena, is making simulation-based research a usual technique among the scientific tools. The impact of these techniques is so large, that they have been touted as the new paradigms for scientific discovery: the third ...

Simulation of large-scale systems by aggregation

1978
Two kinds of difficulties stand in the way of effective simulation of macro-social systems: system mechanisms may be unknown, or known only imperfectly; and the number of system elements and their interactions may be too great for available computing facilities to handle.
