Large Scale Simulations

Reviews in Mineralogy and Geochemistry, 2010
In this chapter we will focus on molecular dynamics (MD) simulations with large numbers of atoms ( N > 1000). Typically, ab initio or F irst P rinciples M olecular D ynamics (FPMD) calculations are performed with smaller clusters of say 100 or fewer atoms. This choice is largely due to limitations in computing resources.

Large scale simulations

AIP Conference Proceedings, 1992
We discuss large scale numerical simulations as a tool for obtaining qualitative understanding of the processes directly and indirectly responsible for coronal heating. The actual heating process in the low beta coronal plasma is most likely driven by transfer of magnetic energy from the subsurface high beta region, where magnetic energy is created as ...

Large-scale simulation models of BGP

The IEEE Computer Society's 12th Annual International Symposium on Modeling, Analysis, and Simulation of Computer and Telecommunications Systems, 2004. (MASCOTS 2004). Proceedings., 2004
The complex nature of the border gateway protocol (BGP) is not amenable to analytical modeling, and thus simulation-based analysis methods are needed to understand its behavior. To this end, we investigate techniques that make large-scale BGP simulations feasible.

RoboCasa: Large-Scale Simulation of Everyday Tasks for Generalist Robots

arXiv.org
Recent advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI) have largely been propelled by scaling. In Robotics, scaling is hindered by the lack of access to massive robot datasets. We advocate using realistic physical simulation as a means to scale environments,

Large Scale Simulation of Tor:

2007
Implementing global passive adversary attacks on currently deployed low latency anonymous networks is not feasible. This paper describes the implementation of a large scale, discrete event based simulation of Tor, using the SSFNet simulator. Several global passive adversary attacks are implemented on a simulated Tor network comprised of approximately ...

Large scale natural vision simulations

Future Generation Computer Systems, 1994
A computationally intensive approach to pattern recognition in images is developed and applied to face recognition. Similarly to previous work, we compute functional inner products of a two-dimensional input signal (image) with a set of two-dimensional Gabor functions which fit the receptive fields of simple cells in the primary visual cortex of ...

Vidur: A Large-Scale Simulation Framework For LLM Inference

Conference on Machine Learning and Systems
Optimizing the deployment of Large language models (LLMs) is expensive today since it requires experimentally running an application workload against an LLM implementation while exploring large configuration space formed by system knobs such as ...

Large scale simulation of particulate flows

Proceedings 13th International Parallel Processing Symposium and 10th Symposium on Parallel and Distributed Processing. IPPS/SPDP 1999, 2003
Simulations of particles in fluid flows are of great interest to numerous industries using sedimentation, fluidization, lubricated transport, and hydraulic fracturing of hydrocarbon reservoirs. Simulating incompressible viscoelastic flows with millions of rigid particles is computationally a very challenging problem.

Review of Large-Scale Simulation Optimization

Journal of the Operations Research Society of China
Large-scale simulation optimization (SO) problems encompass both large-scale ranking-and-selection problems and high-dimensional discrete or continuous SO problems, presenting significant challenges to existing SO theories and algorithms.
