Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Berkeley Cardinals and the search for V [PDF]
This thesis is concerned with Berkeley Cardinals, very large cardinal axioms inconsistent with the Axiom of Choice. These notions have been recently introduced by J. Bagaria, P. Koellner and W. H.

Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Contributions to the Theory of Large Cardinals Beyond Choice
[eng] This thesis investigates large cardinals that are inconsistent with the Axiom of Choice. First, we characterize Berkeley cardinals in terms of a restricted form of Vopěnka’s Principle, and determine the consistency strength of several related ...

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

LARGE CARDINALS AND LIGHTFACE DEFINABLE WELL-ORDERS, WITHOUT THE GCH
. This paper deals with the question whether the assumption that for every inaccessible cardinal κ there is a well-order of H(κ+) definable over the structure 〈H(κ+),∈ 〉 by a formula without parameters is consistent with the existence of (large) large ...

CT10 regulator of kinase (CRK) and CRK‐Like (CRKL) are signaling adaptors driving cell adhesion, motility, differentiation, and proliferation. SH2‐domain containing (SH) proteins are enriched in YXXP motifs which when phosphorylated create preferred binding sites for CRK family SH2 domains.

Protein aggregates threaten proteostasis and cell health. In human cells, Hsp70–J‐domain protein‐based disaggregases remove aggregates, but how they assemble remains unclear. Our biochemical findings show that DNAJA2‐ and DNAJB1‐containing disaggregase scaffolds enhance luciferase aggregate targeting, and that Hsp70 recruitment by both J‐domain ...

Large cardinals and the Axiom of Choice
The Axiom of Choice (AC) is one of the basic assumptions of modern mathematics. It has an essential role in much of our understanding of the infinite, particularly in connection with objects at the level of subsets $X$ of the real numbers, and beyond ...
