Canine Distemper Virus Research in China and Future Directions for Conservation 中国犬瘟热病毒研究现状与保护策略展望

open access: yesIntegrative Conservation, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Canine distemper is a highly contagious, severe disease caused by the canine distemper virus (CDV). With a worldwide distribution and ever‐expanding list of susceptible hosts, CDV poses a growing risk for many threatened wildlife species, both in captivity and their native habitats. As a megadiverse country, China is home to myriad endemic and

Integrating ZooMS and taphonomy further highlights differential processing of animal and Neandertal carcasses in the Quina Mousterian at Les Pradelles (Marillac‐le‐Franc, southwest France)

open access: yesJournal of Quaternary Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The cave of Les Pradelles (Marillac‐le‐Franc, France) was repeatedly visited by Neandertals ~55 000 years ago and is a key site in discussions of Neandertal cannibalism. Excavations between 1967 and 1980 (Vandermeersch) and between 2001 and 2013 (Maureille/Mann) produced a rich faunal assemblage (>20 000 bones), alongside Quina Mousterian ...

Burrow use by Saharan striped polecat (Poecilictis libyca) in an agricultural area of central Tunisia

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, EarlyView.
Saharan striped polecats in agricultural landscapes use many burrows (30–35 per season), facilitated by sandy soils. Burrow sharing is rare and mainly occurs between males and females during mating. Habitat use shifts seasonally, reflecting disturbance and soil conditions. Maintaining stable sandy habitats may be critical for persistence.

Monitoring wolverine (Gulo gulo) distribution across the western United States for regional and national assessment

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, EarlyView.
We estimated the distribution of the federally threatened wolverine (Gulo gulo) across the western United States in 2022, evaluated changes in distribution since 2017 (the last survey), and made inference on drivers of wolverine occurrence. This monitoring program and subsequent results are used by states to make management and conservation decisions ...
