Radio continuum sources behind the Large Magellanic Cloud [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2021
ABSTRACT We present a comprehensive multifrequency catalogue of radio sources behind the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) between 0.2 and 20 GHz, gathered from a combination of new and legacy radio continuum surveys. This catalogue covers an area of ∼144 deg2 at angular resolutions from 45 arcsec to ∼3 arcmin.

Realizing Large Shape Deformations of a Flying Continuum Robot With a Passive Rotating Nozzle Unit That Enlarges Jet Directions in Three-Dimensional Space

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
Flexible continuum robots have considerable potential for use in exploring intricate spaces, and their ability to make large body shape deformations can increase the inspection area.

Continuum molecular simulation of large conformational changes during ion-channel gating. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2011
A modeling framework was developed to simulate large and gradual conformational changes within a macromolecule (protein) when its low amplitude high frequency vibrations are not concerned.

Curvature Correction of a Notched Continuum Robot Based on a Static Model Considering Large Deformation and Friction Effect

open access: yesMachines, 2022
Continuum robots are often used as wrist joints in medical robots because of their high dexterity and flexibility. Especially, the notched continuum robot (NCR) is used in the miniaturized wristed surgical robot.

Mad families, splitting families and large continuum [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Symbolic Logic, 2011
AbstractLet κ < λ be regular uncountable cardinals. Using a finite support iteration (in fact a matrix iteration) of ccc posets we obtain the consistency of . If μ is a measurable cardinal and μ < κ < λ, then using similar techniques we obtain the consistency of .

Estimating AGN Black Hole Masses via Continuum Reverberation Mapping in the Era of LSST

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters, 2023
Spectroscopic reverberation mapping (RM) is a direct approach widely used to determine the mass of black holes (BHs) in active galactic nuclei (AGNs). However, it is very time consuming and difficult to apply to a large AGN sample. The empirical relation

Large cardinals and their effect on the continuum function on regular cardinals

open access: yesActa Universitatis Carolinae Philosophica et Historica, 2016
In this survey paper, we will summarise some of the more and less known results on the generalisation of the Easton theorem in the context of large cardinals. In particular, we will consider inaccessible, Mahlo, weakly compact, Ramsey, measurable, strong,

Forcing consequences of $PFA$ together with the continuum large [PDF]

open access: yesTransactions of the American Mathematical Society, 2015
We develop a new method for building forcing iterations with symmetric systems of structures as side conditions. Using our method we prove that the forcing axiom for the class of all the small finitely proper posets is compatible with a large continuum.

Large vs. continuum assignment economies: efficiency and envy-freeness [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Continuum models are often used to study large finite assignment economies. However, some subtleties must be taken into account. We show that in the large finite random assignment problem without transfers, Competitive Equilibrium with vanishing income ...

Oceanic eddies induce a rapid formation of an internal wave continuum

open access: yesCommunications Earth & Environment, 2023
Oceanic internal waves are a major driver for turbulent mixing in the ocean, which controls the global overturning circulation and the oceanic heat and carbon transport. Internal waves are observed to have a continuous energy distribution across all wave
