Rescuing a black hole in the large-q coupled SYK model
In this paper, we develop a general effective theory for two copies of the Sachdev-Ye-Kitaev (SYK) model with a time-dependent bilinear coupling.

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Large deviation theory for a homogenized and “corrected” elliptic ODE
We study a one-dimensional elliptic problem with highly oscillatory random diffusion coefficient. We derive a homogenized solution and a so-called Gaussian corrector. We also prove a "pointwise" large deviation principle (LDP) for the full solution and approximate this LDP with a more tractable form.

Large Deviations Theory Techniques In Monte Carlo Simulation [PDF]
This paper considers the estimation via importance sampling simulation of large deviation probabilities. These are probabilities Pn which vanish with an exponential rate as n ∞. Let Ln denote the number of simulations required to obtain a specified relative precision. Since Pn vanishes exponentially fast, it turns out that for most practical importance

Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Large Deviation Algorithms for Thresholding Bandit Problem
The Thresholding Bandit (TB) problem is a popular sequential decision-making problem, which aims at identifying the systems whose means are greater than a threshold.

The muon g – 2 for low-mass pseudoscalar Higgs in the general 2HDM*
The two-Higgs doublet model is a simple and attractive extension of the Standard Model. It provides a possibility to explain the large deviation between theory and experiment in the muon g – 2 in an interesting parameter region: light pseudoscalar Higgs ...
