Toward Low‐Level Turbulence Forecasting at Eddy‐Resolving Scales
Microscale turbulence in the atmospheric boundary layer (ABL) is characterized by significant spatiotemporal variability. Consequently, a change in the turbulence forecasting paradigm needs to occur, moving beyond average turbulence estimates at ...

Surface‐Spin‐Induced Magnetic Loss Enhancement in Ultralight Electromagnetic Absorbers
Fe3O4 nanoparticles with different hollow rates were synthesized to demonstrate the key role of surface moment in magnetic loss process. Using the same volume filling ratio, the 54.1% hollow Fe3O4 absorber represents about 20% enhancement in the imaginary part (μ'') than solid particles due to the coexisting magnetic resonance of inside and outside ...

ISOM 1.0: a fully mesoscale-resolving idealized Southern Ocean model and the diversity of multiscale eddy interactions [PDF]
We describe an idealized Southern Ocean model (ISOM 1.0) that contains simplified iconic topographic features in the Southern Ocean and conduct a fully mesoscale-resolving simulation with the horizontal resolution of 2 km, based on the Massachusetts ...

Efficient Adsorption‐Based Direct Air Capture Via Triply Periodic Minimal Surface Architectures
Architected triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS) contactors reshape direct air capture by replacing straight‐channel diffusion limits with convection‐enhanced CO2 transport. Chaotic advection thins boundary layers and exposes fast adsorption sites, enabling 70%–75% more fast sites, 114% higher productivity, and 51.8% lower energy consumption than ...

Large-Eddy Simulation of a Laminar Separation Bubble
Large-eddy simulation of a laminar separation bubble on a flat plate has been performed and compared with the data in the literature. Suitability of different subgrid-scale models has been examined for simulation of transition.

By altering surface chemical bonds to prolong relaxation time and shift absorption to lower frequencies, SiC/rare earth–sulfur (RE─S, RE = La, Ce, Pr, Sm, Gd, Er) materials achieve excellent low‐frequency electromagnetic wave absorption under extreme conditions, offering a new direction for designing high‐performance SiC‐based absorbers.
