Large-Eddy Simulations of Wake Vortices in Ground Proximity and Crosswind
Results from large eddy simulations of the wake vortex behaviour in ground effect with turbulent crosswinds are presented. We have conducted wall-resolved and wall-modelled simulations at different Reynolds numbers to investigate the Reynolds-number ...

Large-eddy simulation of dispersion: comparison between elevated source and ground level source
Large-eddy simulation (LES) is used to calculate the concentration fluctuations of passive plumes from an elevated source (ES) and a ground-level source (GLS) in a turbulent boundary layer over a rough wall.

Our work bridges the gap between skyrmion discovery and material design by demonstrating how atomic‐scale control of exchange interactions enables tunable skyrmion phase transitions in centrosymmetric magnetic metals. ABSTRACT Magnetic skyrmions are topologically protected spin states that hold promise for shaping the future of electronics.

Investigation of the influence of swirl on a confined coannular swirl jet [PDF]
Large Eddy Simulations are used to model a turbulent confined coannular combustor and examine the effects of swirl on the flow field and mixing. Three separate simulations with relatively high mesh resolutions and different swirl numbers have been ...

Exceptional Antimodes in Multi‐Drive Cavity Magnonics
Driven‐dissipative cavity‐magnonics provides a flexible platform for engineering non‐Hermitian physics such as exceptional points. Here, using a four‐port, three‐mode system with controllable microwave interference, antimodes and coherent perfect extinction (CPE) are realized, enabling active tuning to antimode exceptional points.

A new drag and lift correlation for spherocylinders from fully resolved Immersed Boundary Method
Abstract Many industrial processes deal with non‐spherical particles, e.g., mineral mining and biomass conversion. It is crucial to understand the particles' hydrodynamics to control and optimize these processes. To extend the current state‐of‐the‐art from arrays of spherical particles to spherocylindrical particles, we performed extensive particle ...

Magnetic soft robots offer promise in biomedicine due to their wireless actuation and rapid response, but current fabrication methods are complex and have limited cellular compatibility. A new, contactless bioassembly strategy using hydrodynamic instabilities is introduced, enabling customizable, centimeter‐scale robots.

Acoustic and Large Eddy Simulation studies of azimuthal modes in annular combustion chambers [PDF]
The objectives of this paper are the description of azimuthal instability modes found in annular combus- tion chambers using two numerical tools: (1) Large Eddy Simulation (LES) methods and (2) acoustic solv- ers.
