Strict dual-mode large-mode-area fiber with multicore structure

Optics Communications, 2016
Abstract In this paper, we proposed a new kind of quasi-37-cores fiber structure consisting of 15 conventional cores and 22 air-hole cores. Strict dual-mode condition is systematically analyzed about three structure parameters, core-to-core pitch, relative core diameter, and difference of refractive index between core and cladding.

Photodarkening measurements in large mode area fibers

SPIE Proceedings, 2007
Yb-doped fibers are widely used in applications requiring high average output powers and high power pulse amplification. Photodarkening is one limiting factor in these fibers. In this paper, characterization of photodarkening in large-mode-area (LMA) fibers is presented building upon our previous work, which indicated that meaningful comparison of ...

Very Large Mode Area Pixelated Bragg Fibers

Workshop on Specialty Optical Fibers and Their Applications, 2015
Generalized half-wave-stack condition combined with well-chosen hetero-structured cladding is used to design and realize scalable single-mode pixelated Bragg fibers with mode field diameter as large as 60 μm.

Large mode area photonic crystal fibre laser

Technical Digest. Summaries of papers presented at the Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics. Postconference Technical Digest (IEEE Cat. No.01CH37170), 2001
Summary form only given. Fibre lasers have attracted much interest in recent years. Ytterbium-doped silica fibres in particular are capable of high efficiency and may be pumped directly by diode lasers at 915 or 980 nm. However at high power the intensity within the core of an optical fibre becomes very large and this can give rise to optical ...

Large Effective-Area Few-Mode Multicore Fiber

IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 2012
A design concept of few-mode multicore fiber is presented. Cores with a step-index profile are designed to support two LP modes over the C band and the L band with a large effective area larger than 110 μm2. The pitch of cores is determined regarding the inter-core crosstalk related to the LP11 mode.
