Large strain tunability of excitons in ZrSe3 via cryogenic environment

open access: yesNano Research
Strain engineering provides an efficient approach for tailoring the electronic and optical properties of two-dimensional (2D) materials, making them suitable candidates for straintronic applications, especially flexible optoelectronic devices. Therefore,

The Measurement of Large Strains With Foil Resistance Strain Gages [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
Abstract : Gas factor changes in foil resistance strain gages were observed and measured. Errors due to these changes are discussed and corrections for the gages studied were determined. Residual volume changes during plastic deformation in 7039 Aluminum Alloy and S-7 tool steel were shown to be small and unmeasurable with the gages used.

Evaluating the effect of γ‐oryzanol on MASLD pathology using a medaka fish model

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study explores a liver disease called MASLD, which is increasing worldwide and can lead to serious damage. Researchers used medaka fish instead of rodents to test a food compound, γ‐oryzanol. Fish fed this compound had less liver fat and healthier gut bacteria.

Determining the effect of strain rate on the fracture of sheet steel [PDF]

open access: yes
A key challenge for the automotive industry is to reduce vehicle mass without compromising on crash safety. To achieve this, it is necessary to model local failure in a material rather than design to the overly conservative criteria of total elongation

On the use of an enhanced transverse shear strain shell element for problems involving large rotations

open access: yes, 2003
This paper presents the extension of a previously developed formulation for shell elements in order to account for non-linear geometric effects, particularly in the presence of large rotations.

Delivery of DNA‐encoded vaccines and proteins in mice using cutaneous suction‐mediated transfection

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cutaneous suction‐mediated transfection in mice for delivery of DNA‐encoded vaccines and proteins. A critical limitation of DNA vaccines and other therapeutics is transfection in vivo to produce the encoded antigens or therapeutic proteins. Cutaneous suction‐based methods have demonstrated effectiveness in many animal models and have been successfully ...

Risk Prediction Models for Recurrence After Curative Treatment of Early‐Stage or Locally Advanced Lung Cancer: A Systematic Review

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
This systematic review synthesizes prognostic models for survival and recurrence in resected non‐small cell lung cancer. While many models demonstrate moderate to good discrimination, few are externally validated and reporting quality is variable, limiting clinical applicability and highlighting the need for robust, transparent model development ...
