Exploring an Alternative to mRNA Vaccine Cold Chain Storage: MRNA‐Lipid Nanoparticle Stability When Dried in a Polymer Matrix

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The nanostructure, size, and function of mRNA‐loaded lipid nanoparticles are evaluated before drying, within polymer microneedles, and after rehydration. The results reveal the polymer and LNP loadings required to recover nanostructure and preserve the delivery performance in dry‐state formulations.

Design and development of a LIBS system on linear plasma device PSI-2 for in situ real-time diagnostics of plasma-facing materials

open access: yesNuclear Materials and Energy, 2017
Laser induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) is a strong candidate for detecting and monitoring the H/D/T content on the surface of plasma facing components (PFCs) due to its capability of fast direct in situ measurement in extreme environment (e.g ...

Transfer Printing and Reconfiguration of Soft Electronics Using Digital Microfluidics and Laser Machining

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This paper presents a digital microfluidics‐based technique for transferring and reconfiguring soft nanomembranes. Laser‐machined nanothin membranes are picked up, transported, and aligned via tailored surface tension and the actuation of water droplets, enabling the development of flexible electronics, the integration of functional materials on 3D ...

Ion acceleration in underdense plasmas by ultra-short laser pulses

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2014
We report on the ion acceleration mechanisms that occur during the interaction of an intense and ultrashort laser pulse ( $I\lambda^{2}>10^{18} \text{W}\,\text{cm}^{-2}\,\mu \text{m}^{2}$ ) with an underdense helium plasma produced from an ionized gas ...

Long-lived hot and dense plasma from relativistic laser–nanowire array interaction [PDF]

open access: yesMatter and Radiation at Extremes
Long-lived hot and dense plasmas generated by ultra-intense laser beams are of critical importance for laser-driven nuclear physics, bright hard X-ray sources, and laboratory astrophysics. We report the experimental observation of plasmas with nanosecond-

A Molecular Shielding Strategy to Develop Low Protein Binding, Renal Clearable Pan‐Cancer Near‐Infrared Probes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A molecular shielding strategy to convert “protein‐sticky” and “non‐tumor specific” clinical ICG dye, into a “low protein binding” and “tumor‐targeting” dye with prolonged blood circulation and renal clearance is described. These shielded ICGs demonstrate strong tumor accumulation and optimal tissue clearance, resulting in high tumor‐to‐background ...

Experimental observation of backscattered light based on different coherence between incident laser beams

open access: yesHigh Power Laser Science and Engineering, 2013
Recent experimental results on NIF revealed a much higher stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) and stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) backscatter than expected; one possible reason was due to the coherence between incident laser beams.
