High Power Laser-Grating Interaction

open access: yes, 2011
A system which presents a periodic optical structure is usually referred to as a photonic structure, for its light manipulation capabilities. The most simple one dimensional photonic structure that can be made of metallic material is a diffraction ...

Interferometric characterization of density dynamics of an ultradense Z‐pinch plasma

open access: yes, 1979
We have measured the spatially and temporally resolved density in a Z‐pinch plasma by holographic interferometry. The high electron density (4×1019 e/cm3), short density scale length (100 μm), and low temperature (about 20 eV) make the plasma source ...

Shape Memory Microneedle to Prevent Risks of Reproductive Hormone Therapy by Switching Sustained to Burst Release Under a Single Transdermal Insertion

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A shape‐memory microneedle system enables reproductive hormone therapy through a single transdermal insertion. The X‐shaped device sustains follicle‐stimulating hormone release for three days, and mild heating restores the O shape to trigger burst human chorionic gonadotropin release.

The Broadening of the Lyman Lines in a Laser-produced Plasma

open access: yes, 1977
Spectra emitted by laser produced plasmas of light elements whenb observed with spatial resolution show the H-likeLyman lines strongly broadened and asymmetrically self-absorbed. The case of some lines of BV is analyzed in detail. Temperature density and

All‐Solution‐Processed HgTe Quantum Dot Photodetectors for Extended Short‐Wavelength Infrared Range Enhanced by Plasmonic ITO Nanocrystals

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
All‐solution‐processed, low‐cost extended short‐wavelength infrared photodetectors are realized by coupling colloidal HgTe quantum dots to plasmonic In2O3:Sn,F nanocrystals. Localized surface plasmon resonances boost and spectrally tailor light absorption between 1500 and 3000 nm, enabling responsivities above 40 A W−1.

Laser Shock Microformingof Thin Metal Sheets with ns Lasers

open access: yes, 2011
Continuous and long-pulse lasers have been used for the forming of metal sheets in macroscopic mechanical applications. However, for the manufacturing of micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS), the use of ns laser pulses provides a suitable parameter ...

Coagulative Granular Hydrogels with an Enzyme Catalyzed Fibrin Network for Endogenous Tissue Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Coagulative granular hydrogels are composed of packed thrombin‐functionalized microgels that catalyze the conversion of fibrinogen into a secondary fibrin network, filling the interstitial voids. This bio‐inspired approach stabilizes the biomaterial to match the robustness of bulk hydrogels without compromising injectability, mimicking the initial ...

Modelling of plasma formation during nanosecond laser ablation

open access: yesArchives of Mechanics, 2011
The interaction of laser beam with a target and next with the evaporated material is studied theoretically. In the case of a nanosecond laser pulse with 1064 nm wavelength, the ablation is thermal and therefore the interaction of the laser beam with a ...

Experimental Demonstration of Superradiant Amplification of Ultra-Short Laser Pulses in a Plasma

open access: yes, 2005
A novel amplifications scheme for 20-30-fs laser pulses has been demonstrated. The signal pulses are amplified in a plasma by few picosecond long, counterpropagating pump pulses.
