Crash Behavior of DP800–DP1000 Advanced High‐Strength Steel’s Dissimilar Resistance Spot Welded Joints Under Quasi‐static and High Strain Rates

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
The high‐strain‐rate behavior of resistance spot‐welded DP800–DP1000 joints is investigated. Results show that microstructural gradients across BM–HAZ–FZ govern hardness, strain rate sensitivity, and failure modes. While strength increases with strain rate, energy absorption is controlled by ductility, with DP800–DP800 joints showing superior ...

The analysis of shielding gases in laser–arc hybrid welding processes

open access: yesProceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part B: Journal of Engineering Manufacture, 2011
Acceptable quality laser–arc hybrid welds can be produced with many different process gas compositions, but if the objective is high productivity, low gas costs, a reliable process, and the best quality, the shielding gas composition makes a remarkable difference in the laser–arc hybrid welding of steels.

Cause of angular distortion in fusion welding: asymmetric cross-sectional profile along thickness [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Angular distortion is a common problem in fusion welding, especially when it comes to thick plates. Despite the fact that various processes and influencing factors have been discussed, the cause of the angular distortion has not been clearly revealed. In
