Time-of-flight resolved light field fluctuations reveal deep human tissue physiology. [PDF]
Red blood cells (RBCs) transport oxygen to tissues and remove carbon dioxide. Diffuse optical flowmetry (DOF) assesses deep tissue RBC dynamics by measuring coherent fluctuations of multiply scattered near-infrared light intensity.

Non-invasive study for peripheral circulation in patients with diabetes mellitus [PDF]
The purpose of this study is to establish a new, non - invasive diagnostic technique for peripheral circulation in patients with diabetes mellitus in the early stage of arteriosclerosis obliterans (ASO) as one of the complications of diabetes mellitus ...

Choroidal Laser Doppler Flowmetry in Healthy Subjects [PDF]
To evaluate normal choroidal blood flow and its relationship with various factors such as age, systemic blood pressure, and intraocular pressure (IOP).A total of 70 healthy subjects were recruited. Choroidal blood flow was assessed using a method based on laser Doppler flowmetry (LDF) technique.

Abstract Blood flow in the inactive limb tissues and skin is widely thought to decline during incremental exercise to exhaustion due to augmented sympathoadrenal vasoconstrictor activity, but direct evidence to support this view is lacking. Here, we investigated the inactive‐forearm haemodynamic (Q̇forearm${\dot{Q}}_{\mathrm{forearm}}$) and oxygenation

Structured-illumination photoacoustic Doppler flowmetry of axial flow in homogeneous scattering media [PDF]
We propose a method for photoacoustic flow measurement based on the Doppler effect from a flowing homogeneous medium. Excited by spatially modulated laser pulses, the flowing medium induces a Doppler frequency shift in the received photoacoustic signals.

Sex differences in cerebral blood flow and cardiac function in response to exercise in the heat
Abstract We investigated the effect of exercising in hot conditions on cerebral blood flow and systolic left ventricular (LV) function in males and females, to explore sex differences. The experimental condition consisted of walking on a treadmill at 5 km/h and 2% incline, inside a heat chamber at 40°C (50% relative humidity), for 90 min.

Abstract figure legend During cardiopulmonary exercise testing, the decline in oxygenation in the prefrontal cortex of women is striking. This crucial brain area is directly involved in planning motor tasks. The decline is particularly pronounced at higher exercise intensities, especially after reaching the respiratory compensation point or anaerobic ...

Summary of the study design, metholodgy, results and conclusions. Abstract Due to a lack of technical capacity to directly visualise and quantify microvessels in the skin, little is known regarding regional and/or sex differences. We compared diameter, velocity, flow and density at four regional sites using a novel optical coherence tomography (OCT ...
