Pixelated Phosphor Converter for Laser‐Driven Adaptive Lighting
Laser & Photonics Reviews, 2023AbstractWith the advent of artificial intelligence and unmanned driving, it is an inevitable trend to provide laser‐driven adaptive lighting with super‐brightness, high penetration, and high spatial resolution; one of the best solutions is to pump pixelated phosphor converters by laser diodes (LDs).

Terminal velocity of a laser-driven light sail
Journal of Spacecraft and Rockets, 1990It is shown that the maximum velocity attainable by a laser-driven light sail is constrained by the back pressure of the relativistically transformed microwave background radiation field with interstellar material having little effect. Using current sail concepts, terminal Lorentz factors much in excess of 10 are not possible, and therefore ...

25.3: A Miniature Laser‐Driven Visible Light Source
SID Symposium Digest of Technical Papers, 2015Al A compact light source that uses low‐cost commercially available lasers to generate visible light for etendue‐limited applications is presented. The key element is a phosphor‐based optical cavity that converts 405nm/445nm laser light into specklefree red, green, blue or white light at a selected etendue.

The impact of contaminants on laser-driven light ion acceleration
Physics of Plasmas, 2010The impact of contaminants on laser-driven ion acceleration is investigated using particle-in-cell simulations. The conventional ion acceleration mechanism, target normal sheath acceleration, has been revisited for targets with proton-rich contaminants in the form of water vapor.

Ring Remote Phosphor Structure for Laser-Driven White Lighting
IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices, 2020In this article, a ring remote phosphor (RRP) structure comprising an inverted-cone-lens encapsulant and a surrounding phosphor layer was developed and used for laser-driven white lighting. The inverted-cone-lens encapsulant in the structure redirects light from a blue laser diode (LD) to the surrounding phosphor layer, thus preventing intense light ...

Laser-driven resonance of light-absorbing ultrasound contrast microbubbles
Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2016The sensitivity of ultrasound imaging is greatly enhanced by the use of microbubble contrast agents through resonant volumetric oscillations. While the increased acoustic contrast is of prime interest for perfusion imaging of organs, microbubbles until now have limited benefit in terms of specificity for ultrasound imaging.

Acceleration of Laser-Driven Light Sails with Size Comparable to the Beam
2019 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and USNC-URSI Radio Science Meeting, 2019This paper derives exact formulas for the force exerted on light sails by lasers and for the resulting acceleration in the presence of spillover, which occurs when the size of the sail is comparable or smaller than that of the gaussian beam. Moreover, it compares these quantities for different sail sizes. This study is of a paramount interest for light/

Sintering‐Free Phosphor Films for Laser‐Driven Lighting
Laser & Photonics ReviewsAbstractPhosphor color converters in the form of ceramics and films are key components in laser‐driven solid‐state lighting, but the high temperature (> 500 °C) required to densify them usually leads to a high loss in quantum efficiency and thermal stability.

A unique color converter geometry for laser-driven white lighting
Optical Materials, 2018Abstract The development of quantum dot (QD) layers as color converters in phosphor-converted white laser diodes (pc-wLDs) is restricted due to their low stability under laser irradiation. The present study aims to develop a unique color converter geometry that enables the QD layer for high-power pc-wLDs.
