Laser-Induced Periodic Surface Structures in GaP
Laser Congress 2018 (ASSL), 2018Laser-induced periodic surface structures (LIPSS) in GaP with high and low spatial frequencies were systematically investigated. We fabricated these structures using a fs laser as a feasible alternative method to realize nonlinear photonic metasurfaces.

Laser induced periodic surface structures on iron
Applied Surface Science, 1996Abstract Laser induced periodic surface structures (LIPSS) have been obtained on polished and non polished iron surfaces using a non focalised Nd:YAG laser under fluences of 0.5–1 J cm −2 . After a subsequent number of shots in a given surface temperature range, a steady state surface patterning is achieved that do not depend on laser light ...

Laser-Induced Periodic Surface Structures— A Scientific Evergreen
IEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Quantum Electronics, 2017Laser-induced periodic surface structures (LIPSS, ripples) are a universal phenomenon and can be generated on almost any material upon irradiation with linearly polarized radiation. With the availability of ultrashort laser pulses, LIPSS have gained an increasing attraction during the past decade, since these structures can be generated in a simple ...

Towards Friction Control using laser-induced periodic Surface Structures
AbstractThis paper aims at contributing to the study of laser-induced periodic surface structures (LIPSS) and the description of their tribological properties in order to facilitate the knowledge for contact mechanical applications. To obtain laser parameters for LIPSS formation, we propose to execute two D2-Experiments.

Laser-induced periodic surface structures (LIPSS) on polymer surfaces
2012 14th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks (ICTON), 2012Frequently observed structures in laser-surface processing are ripples, also denoted as laser-induced periodic surface structures (LIPSS). Ripples originate from the interference of the incident/refracted laser light with the scattered or diffracted light near the surface.

Femtosecond Laser-Induced Periodic Surface Structures on Tungsten
Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics/International Quantum Electronics Conference, 2009We generate periodic surface structures on tungsten at various laser wavelengths, despite that the table values of the dielectric constants indicate the absence of surface plasmons, a wave necessary for forming periodic structures on metals.

Laser-induced periodic surface structure. I. Theory
Physical Review B, 1983We develop a theory for laser-induced periodic surface structure by associating each Fourier component of induced structure with the corresponding Fourier component of inhomogeneous energy deposition just beneath the surface. We assume that surface roughness, confined to a region of height much less than the wavelength of light, is responsible for the ...

Laser-Induced Periodic Surface Structures (LIPSS) on Polymer Surfaces
2019Wrinkled surfaces can be obtained through the control of surface instabilities produced by repeated irradiation of polymer surfaces by pulsed lasers. By the combination of the electric field associated with the laser beam and the heating of the polymer surface during a short period of time, which typically is in the range of nanosecond, when the ...

Review of femtosecond laser induced surface periodic structure
Nanophotonics and Micro/Nano Optics V, 2019Femtosecond laser has the feature of ultra-short and ultra-fast. In recent years, femtosecond laser has been used extensively in the field of new energy, automobiles, large aircraft, and biomedical fields. The femtosecond laser induced surface structure has the advantages of simple process, fast processing speed and high fineness, and it is one of the ...

Femtosecond laser-induced periodic surface structures on silica
Journal of Applied Physics, 2012The formation of laser-induced periodic surface structures (LIPSS) on two different silica polymorphs (single-crystalline synthetic quartz and commercial fused silica glass) upon irradiation in air with multiple linearly polarized single- and double-fs-laser pulse sequences (τ = 150 fs pulse duration, λ = 800 nm center wavelength, temporal pulse ...
