Alexandrite Laser Amplifiers

SPIE Proceedings, 1986
Recent performance of alexandrite single- and double-pass amplifiers is described. Amplification factors of 5x per pass are reported at pulse energies of several joules/pulse and pulse powers exceeding 100 MW.

Laser amplifier design

IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics, 1974
Abstract Often one wants a laser amplifier system to produce an output pulse of a specific form, e.g., time shape, energy, etc. Given any potential amplifier configuration one needs to find the proper input pulse which, when propagated through the amplifier system, results in the desired output pulse.

Laser Amplifiers

Journal of Applied Physics, 1965
The performance of a ruby laser amplifier is described and compared with a theoretical model. The ruby laser amplifier was driven by a Q-switched laser oscillator with a stable output, whose properties are due, in part, to a newly developed output coupler and a spinning roof-top prism for Q-spoiling.

Nd:MgO:LiNbO_3 waveguide laser and amplifier

Optics Letters, 1990
Nd:MgO: LiNbO3 is a promising material that combines the good laser gain of Nd3+with the electro-optic and nonlinear properties of LiNbO3.1-3 In a waveguide configuration, this combination offers the possibility of realizing highly efficient laser-diode-pumped lasers and amplifiers, self-frequency doubled lasers, integrated laser/modulator structures ...

Ho:Tm:YLF laser amplifiers

Journal of the Optical Society of America B, 1996
A series of models is developed that describes a Ho:Tm laser, and predictions from these models are compared with experimental measurements for a variety of Ho:Tm:YLF amplifiers. Modeling is complicated by the plethora of required parameters needed to describe the dynamics of the Ho:Tm laser system versus the paucity of measured parameters.

Above-threshold laser amplifier

Physical Review Letters, 1991
We have measured gain profiles by light-beating techniques for an argon-ion laser operated above threshold. The observed behavior is interpreted by developing a theory which incorporates four-wave mixing of signal and image frequencies. The gain shows the typical characteristics of a second-order phase transition.

GaAs laser amplifiers

IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics, 1968
Experimental results are presented on the operational characteristics of GaAs laser amplifiers very closely coupled to a laser oscillator. The separation between the oscillator and the amplifier was varied from 0.2 to 2.0 microns. The amplifiers were made by lapping one end at an angle of 10 to 15 degrees.

Exciton-laser amplifier

IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics, 1984
A laser-amplifying device is proposed which is based on the stimulated decay of excitons in a pure crystal. An estimate is made of the gain of the device. At a typical frequency the gain is found to be appreciably large, thus suggesting practical application of the laser amplifier.

Laser-amplifier gain and noise

Physical Review A, 1993
A theoretical study is presented of the gain and the noise spectra of laser amplifiers at pumping rates both above and below the oscillation threshold. The theory is valid for both class- A and class-B laser systems, where the decay rate of the collective atomic dipole moment greatly exceeds the decay rates of the atomic population inversion and the ...
