Profiling of micrometer-sized laser beams in restricted volumes [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Optics, 2012
We present a method for determining the 3D intensity distribution of directed laser radiation with micrometer resolution in restricted volumes. Our method is based on in-coupling and guiding properties of optical fibers, with the current version requiring only few hundred micrometers.

Characterization of Laser Beam Shaping Optics Based on Their Ablation Geometry of Thin Films

open access: yesMicromachines, 2014
Thin film ablation with pulsed nanosecond lasers can benefit from the use of beam shaping optics to transform the Gaussian beam profile with a circular footprint into a Top-Hat beam profile with a rectangular footprint.

Relativistic self-focusing of intense laser beam in thermal collisionless quantum plasma with ramped density profile

open access: yesPhysical Review Special Topics. Accelerators and Beams, 2015
Propagation of a Gaussian x-ray laser beam has been analyzed in collisionless thermal quantum plasma with considering a ramped density profile. In this density profile due to the increase in the plasma density, an earlier and stronger self-focusing ...

Enhanced Photoacoustic Beam Profiling of Pulsed Lasers

open access: yesInternational Journal of Thermophysics, 2013
An improved version of a photoacoustic beam profiler of pulsed lasers is presented. The new model resorts to high-bandwidth condenser microphones to register higher-order, excited acoustic modes, thus enabling more accurate profiling. In addition, Xe was used as a buffer gas since its high atomic weight further reduces the eigenfrequencies. Furthermore,
