Photoacoustic beam profiling of pulsed lasers
Review of Scientific Instruments, 2009We introduce a beam profiler of pulsed lasers based on the photoacoustic technique. The method assumes that the initial pressure distribution inside the acoustic cell follows the laser intensity pattern if absorbed energy relaxes rapidly. This initial pressure condition can be described as a superposition of acoustic modes of different amplitudes and ...

Fluorometric Beam Profiling of UV MALDI Lasers
Journal of the American Society for Mass Spectrometry, 2013The photon distribution (beam profile) of the laser as projected onto the sample is an important variable in matrix assisted laser desorption ionization mass spectrometry (MALDI-MS). Measurement of the beam profile is, therefore, an important factor within MALDI-MS.

Convenient spatial profiling of pulsed laser beams
Applied Optics, 1985This paper describes a convenient method for spatial profiling of pulsed laser beams using the scanning knife-edge technique. This method is applied to a Nd:YAG laser and a chopped CO2 laser.

An online beam profiler for laser-accelerated protons
Review of Scientific Instruments, 2019The design and operation of an online energy and spatially resolving detector based on three different scintillators for laser-driven protons are described. The device can be used for a multi-Hertz recording rate. The spatial resolution is <0.5 mm, allowing to retrieve details of the proton beam which is of interest, e.g., for radiographic ...

Reshaping collimated laser beams with Gaussian profile to uniform profiles
Applied Optics, 1983A set of holographic filters was developed to convert the Gaussian intensity distribution of a collimated laser beam into a uniform one. The design and the fabricating method of the holographic filters are presented and experimental results are shown.

Measurement of laser beam spatial profile by laser scanning
European Journal of Physics, 2020Abstract In several undergraduate courses related to laser physics and optics it is crucial that students should be able to understand basic concepts of laser beam propagation. In addition, experimental activities focusing on capability building in photogrammetry and remote sensing technologies are considered essential for ...

Laser beam profiling by waveguide technique
2010 Academic Symposium on Optoelectronics and Microelectronics Technology and 10th Chinese-Russian Symposium on Laser Physics and Laser TechnologyOptoelectronics Technology (ASOT), 2010The resonant prism-coupling technique for measuring of light beam intensity distribution is presented. This approach is based on recording of the angular dependence of intensity of the reflected laser beam in the case of excitation of guided mode in testing thin-film structure.

Laser Beam Profile Measurements
Optical Engineering, 1986Three instruments used at Hughes Aircraft Company for making laser measurements are described. Two of the three instruments employ the conventional aperture technique for measuring beam divergence and use the aperture spatial location as the geometrical center of the beam.

Instrument for measuring laser-beam profiles
Review of Scientific Instruments, 1987A simple single-element instrument for measuring laser-beam profiles is described. The laser beam is deflected by a self-resonant scanner and transmitted through a pinhole or a variable slit. Correction factors for various relative sizes of pinholes and slits are also given.
