Laser cleaning of surface contaminants

Applied Surface Science, 1998
Abstract Laser cleaning effect can be produced on a surface using pulsed laser irradiation, with pulse duration typically 1 to 100 ns, fluence typically tens to hundreds of mJ/cm2, and wavelengths typically in the 200 to 300 nm range. A thin liquid film can be used to enhance the removal efficiency of small particulates; this is called `steam laser ...

Laser cleaning of a bronze bell

Applied Surface Science, 2013
Abstract In this paper we report the experimental results of the study of evaluation of an UV laser cleaning treatment on a bronze bell outdoor, dating from the second half of the 600. Energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence (EDXRF) non-destructive analysis was performed on the bell before, during and after the cleaning treatment in order to assess the

A study of microstructure and mechanical properties of aluminum alloy using laser cleaning

Journal of Manufacturing Processes, 2019
In this study, laser cleaning of aluminum alloy was investigated adopting a 120 W MOPA pulsed fiber laser. The results show that laser cleaning can remove the oxide layer on the surface of aluminum alloy effectively.

Laser cleaning of glass [PDF]

open access: yesOptics and Lasers in Engineering, 1991
Abstract The pulse lasers, YAG-, CO 2 -, and N 2 -lasers, are examined for use in the cleaning of glass. Cleaning is found to be due to the evaporation and sputtering of stains on the glass by the heat energy of the laser light. Only the N 2 laser can be used for the cleaning of the exit surface of the glass (the opposite side to the laser). A laser

Laser cleaning on bronze artefacts by the XeCl laser

Optik, 2021
Abstract In this paper, bronze samples from Bam Arg World Heritage for laser cleaning with XeCl laser is investigated. The sample is analyzed before and after laser cleaning by XRD, DAX, SEM and PIXE methods to determine their surface impurities then optimum conditions such as the repetition rate and number of laser pulses obtain for laser cleaning.
