Deep Laser Cooling and Efficient Magnetic Compression of Molecules. [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2018
We introduce a scheme for deep laser cooling of molecules based on robust dark states at zero velocity. By simulating this scheme, we show it to be a widely applicable method that can reach the recoil limit or below.

The possibility of using laser and micro-jet technology in the welding of structural elements of vehicles [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Journal of Silesian University of Technology. Series Transport, 2015
A paper presents the possibility of laser welding using micro-jet cooling. The effect of micro-jet cooling on microstructure and mechanical properties of the weld metal deposit was carried out.

Λ-enhanced grey molasses on the D2 transition of Rubidium-87 atoms

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2018
Laser cooling based on dark states, i.e. states decoupled from light, has proven to be effective to increase the phase-space density of cold trapped atoms.

Effect of Heat Sink and Cooling Mediums on Ferrite Austenite Ratio and Distortion in Laser Welding of Duplex Stainless Steel 2205

open access: yesChinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering, 2019
In order to control the ferrite and austenite percentage in duplex stainless steel welding, many researchers try to change the laser welding parameters and cooling medium, but ignore to study the influence of heat sink effect on weld strength.

Laser Cooling of Molecular Anions [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2015
We propose a scheme for laser cooling of negatively charged molecules. We briefly summarise the requirements for such laser cooling and we identify a number of potential candidates. A detailed computation study with C$\_2^-$, the most studied molecular anion, is carried out.

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Analysis of the Strength and toughness of welded joints in ultra high strength steel with a step-cooling laser welding

open access: yesHanjie xuebao
To address the strength-toughness mismatch in ultra-high strength steel welded joints, a step-cooling process inspired by the Quenching and Partitioning (Q&P) principle was proposed and its impact on the mechanical properties of welded joints was ...

Optimizing Laser Sintering Parameters and Cooling Channel Designs for Enhanced Injection Molding of Medical Tube Connectors

open access: yesJournal of Applied Science and Engineering
Respiratory equipment disconnections in hospitals pose severe risks, including hypoxia and mortality. Suboptimal tube connector quality, often worsened by traditional cooling mold designs, results in uneven thermal equilibrium, product deformation, and ...

Three-dimensional model of small signal free-electron lasers

open access: yesPhysical Review Special Topics. Accelerators and Beams, 2011
Coherent electron cooling is an ultrahigh-bandwidth form of stochastic cooling which utilizes the charge perturbation from Debye screening as a seed for a free-electron laser.
