High Resolution Laser Self-Mixing Displacement Sensor Under Large Variation in Optical Feedback and Speckle

open access: yesIEEE Sensors Journal, 2020
Self-Mixing interferometry (SMI) signal characteristics are highly dependent on both the operating optical regime and target surface. In this paper, a method is proposed to overcome some identified limitations of the even power scalable algorithm (EPSA),

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

The artificial neural network modelling of the piezoelectric actuator vibrations using laser displacement sensor

open access: yes, 2017
We report an improvement of the artificial neural network (ANN) modelling of a piezoelectric actuator vibration based on the experimental data. The controlled vibrations of an actuator were obtained by utilizing the swept-sine signal excitation. The peak

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Suppression of lung adenocarcinoma migration through organelle alkalization by human lactoferrin – albumin fusion

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This paper reveals how human lactoferrin–albumin fusion (hLF‐HSA) potently suppresses lung adenocarcinoma cell migration. hLF‐HSA upregulates NHE7, leading to Golgi alkalization, disruption of the Golgi secretome, downregulation of MMP1, and reversal of EMT. These findings suggest a novel Golgi‐targeting strategy to suppress cancer cell migration.

A Normal Sensor Calibration Method Based on an Extended Kalman Filter for Robotic Drilling

open access: yesSensors, 2018
To enhance the perpendicularity accuracy in the robotic drilling system, a normal sensor calibration method is proposed to identify the errors of the zero point and laser beam direction of laser displacement sensors simultaneously.

Characteristics of electro-optic crystals for laser displacement sensor.

open access: yesTRANSACTIONS OF THE JAPAN SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS Series C, 1989
We are developing a laser displacement sensor which can be sued for XY-Stage positioning for example. The principle of this sensor is the interference method. It modulates the phase of the reflecting beam form the object by electro-optic crystals, and measures shift of the phase of measurement beam by comparison with that of modulated reference beam ...

Application of blue laser triangulation sensors for displacement measurement through fire [PDF]

open access: yesMeasurement Science and Technology, 2016
This paper explores the use of blue laser triangulation sensors to measure displacement of a target located behind or in the close proximity of natural gas diffusion flames. This measurement is critical for providing high-quality data in structural fire tests.
