Electronic dynamics and frequency-dependent effects in circularly polarized strong-field physics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We analyze, quantum mechanically, the dynamics of ionization with a strong, circularly polarized, laser field. We show that the main source for non-adiabatic effects is connected to an effective barrier lowering due to the laser frequency.

In-situ full-field mapping of melt flow dynamics in laser metal additive manufacturing

open access: yes, 2020
Melt flow plays a critical role in laser metal additive manufacturing, yet the melt flow behavior within the melt pool has never been explicitly presented.

Normalized boundary value problems in the model of optoelectronic oscillator delayed [PDF]

open access: yesИзвестия высших учебных заведений: Прикладная нелинейная динамика, 2020
Purpose of this work is reduction of differential-difference-model of optic-electronic oscillator to more simple normalized boundary value problems. We study the dynamics of an optoelectronic oscillator with delayed feedback in the vicinity of the zero ...

Dynamics of pore formation during laser powder bed fusion additive manufacturing

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
Laser powder bed fusion additive manufacturing is an emerging 3D printing technique for the fabrication of advanced metal components. Widespread adoption of it and similar additive technologies is hampered by poor understanding of laser-metal ...

Outcoupling from a Bose-Einstein condensate with squeezed light to produce entangled atom laser beams [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We examine the properties of an atom laser produced by outcoupling from a Bose-Einstein condensate with squeezed light. We model the multimode dynamics of the output field and show that a significant amount of squeezing can be transfered from an optical ...

Unveiling multi-scale laser dynamics through time-stretch and time-lens spectroscopies

open access: yes, 2017
Spectro-temporal studies on the nonlinear physics of complex laser dynamics are essential in approaching its ultimate performance as well as understanding interdisciplinary problems.

All-optical nonequilibrium pathway to stabilising magnetic Weyl semimetals in pyrochlore iridates

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
Topological states may emerge in nonequilibrium but the mechanisms are much less understood. Here Topp et al. propose a nonequilibrium route to obtain the magnetic Weyl semimetallic phase in pyrochlore iridates by ultrafast modification of the effective ...

Influence of Ultrasound on Pore and Crack Formation in Laser Beam Welding of Nickel-Base Alloy Round Bars

open access: yesMetals, 2020
Welding by laser beam is a method for creating deep and narrow welds with low influence on the surrounding material. Nevertheless, the microstructure and mechanical properties change, and highly alloyed materials are prone to segregation. A new promising

Ultra-strong spin–orbit coupling and topological moiré engineering in twisted ZrS2 bilayers

open access: yesNature Communications, 2022
Studies of twisted bilayer transition metal dichalcogenides have so far focused only on those containing group-VI metals. Here, the authors predict that twisted bilayers of ZrS2, with the group-IV metal Zr, form an emergent moiré Kagome lattice with a ...

In situ X-ray imaging of defect and molten pool dynamics in laser additive manufacturing

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
The laser–matter interaction and solidification phenomena associated with laser additive manufacturing (LAM) remain unclear, slowing its process development and optimisation.
