Locked out by Latch-up? An Empirical Study on Laser Fault Injection into Arm Cortex-M Processors

open access: yes, 2022
S.7-14Laser-based fault injection (LFI) is considered as one of the most powerful tools for active attacks against integrated circuits. However, only few empirical results are published for LFI into modern low-power microcontrollers with current process ...

On the Importance of Initial Solutions Selection in Fault Injection

open access: yes, 2021
Fault injection attacks require the adversary to select suitable parameters for the attack. In this work, we consider laser fault injection and parameters like the location of the laser shot $(x,\ y)$, delay, pulse width, and intensity of the laser.

Characteristics of water phase permeability variation in medium-low permeability oil reservoirs during high multiple waterflooding [PDF]

open access: yesYouqicang pingjia yu kaifa
In fault block G76 of the Jidong Oilfield, issues such as increased injection pressure and difficulty in water injection have arisen during the waterflooding development process.

An Experimentally Tuned Compact Electrical Model for Laser Fault Injection Simulation

open access: yes2022 IEEE 28th International Symposium on On-Line Testing and Robust System Design (IOLTS), 2022
This work reports LFI experiments carried out on custom CMOS 65 nm digital test gates, aiming at tuning the parameters of a compact electrical model. Like in previous works, we observed a difference in behavior in the induced faults when using nanosecond and picosecond range laser pulse duration.

Fault Injection Evaluation with Statistical Analysis

open access: yesTransactions on Cryptographic Hardware and Embedded Systems
A critical aspect of securing cryptographic hardware is their resistance to Fault Injection (FI) attacks, which involve the successful injection of faults into the system in operation. Specifically, a hardware design must be resilient to wellestablished

Temporary Laser Fault Injection into Flash Memory: Calibration, Enhanced Attacks, and Countermeasures

open access: yes, 2022
S.109-115There exist different attacks on microcontroller and embedded system security. One of them is laser fault injection (LFI). Laser fault injection into flash memory that has only temporary effects has been observed by several research groups ...

USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic
