Self-heterodyne mixing method of two inter-mode beat frequencies for frequency stabilization of a three-mode He-Ne laser

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2012
We present a robust self-heterodyne mixing method of two inter-mode beat frequencies suitable for frequency stabilization of a three longitudinal-mode (3-mode) He-Ne laser at 633 nm.

Semiconductor laser chip stabilization by Si3N4 microresonator and Kerr comb generation

open access: yes, 2018
The experimental study of the InPlaser diode stabilization by high-Q Si3N4 microresonator is presented. We demonstrate how this stabilized laser diode considered as a pump laser may be used for optical frequency comb generation in the same microresonator.

In Situ Micromechanical Study of Bimodal γ′–γ″ Precipitate Assemblies in Ni–Cr–Al–Nb Superalloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A Ni–Cr–Al–Nb superalloy with a bimodal γ′–γ″ precipitate distribution is developed. Composite precipitate assemblies form through heterogeneous nucleation, effectively impeding dislocation motion. Micropillar compression reveals high strength at room and elevated temperatures, governed by precipitate shearing, with coupled faulting mechanisms ...

Optoacoustic frequency stabilization of a carbon dioxide laser [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
In this thesis a study has been made of the design, construction and, in particular, frequency stabilization of a d.c. excited carbon dioxide laser. The outline of the theory of the carbon dioxide laser is presented as a prelude to a detailed study of ...

Low Cycle Repetitive Loading of Ti‐6Al‐4V‐Epoxy Composite Lattice Structures for Enhanced Energy Dissipation and Damage Tolerance

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Composite Ti–6Al–4V–epoxy lattice structures are additively manufactured and epoxy infiltrated for cyclic loading. At low lattice volume fractions, hybridization produces synergistic gains in stiffness and energy dissipation. At higher volume fractions, synergy diminishes, although composites still exceed metallic lattices in specific energy ...

Towards a compact THz local oscillator based on a quantum cascade laser

open access: yes, 2010
Heterodyne spectroscopy of molecular rotational lines and atomic fine-structure lines is a powerful tool in astronomy and planetary research. One example is the OI fine-structure line at 4.7 THz.
