Passive mode locking of a Tm,Ho:KY(WO4)(2) laser around 2 μm [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We report the first demonstration, to our knowledge, of passive mode locking in a Tm3+, Ho3+-codoped KYWO42 laser operating in the 2000-2060 nm spectral region.

Characterization of Nitinol Produced by Laser Powder Bed Fusion for Mechanical Metamaterial Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Stabilization of L‐PBF Ni50.7Ti49.3 under low‐cycle loading was investigated. Recoverable strain after cycling was dependent on the amount of applied load. Recovery ratio was 53.4% and 35.1% at intermediate and high load, respectively. The maximum total strain reached 10.3% at a high load of 1200 MPa.

Modulation-free laser stabilization technique using integrated cavity-coupled Mach-Zehnder interferometer

open access: yesNature Communications
Stable lasers play a significant role in precision optical systems where an electro-optic laser frequency stabilization system, such as the Pound-Drever-Hall technique, measures laser frequency and actively stabilizes it by comparing it to a frequency ...

A Laser System for the Spectroscopy of Highly-Charged Bismuth Ions

open access: yes, 2011
We present and characterize a laser system for the spectroscopy on highly-charged ^209Bi^82+ ions at a wavelength of 243.87 nm. For absolute frequency stabilization, the laser system is locked to a near-infra-red laser stabilized to a rubidium transition

Stabilization and precise calibration of a continuous-wave difference frequency spectrometer by use of a simple transfer cavity [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
A novel, simple, and inexpensive calibration scheme for a continuous-wave difference frequency spectrometer is presented, based on the stabilization of an open transfer cavity by locking onto the output of a polarization stabilized HeNe laser.

EBSD Study of Creep‐Induced Lattice Misorientation in MgO‐Particle‐Reinforced Austenitic Steel Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Creep experiments at 900°C on coarse‐grained steel‐ceramic composites containing recycled magnesia reveal that higher ceramic volume fractions significantly enhance the creep resistance. Detailed EBSD investigations identify subgrain formation in the steel matrix as the dominant deformation mechanism.

Spectrally narrow, long-term stable optical frequency reference based on a Eu$^{3+}$:Y$_{2}$SiO$_{5}$ crystal at cryogenic temperature

open access: yes, 2011
Using an ultrastable continuous-wave laser at 580 nm we performed spectral hole burning of Eu$^{3+}$:Y$_{2}$SiO$_{5}$ at very high spectral resolution.

Handbook of Establishing and Maintaining Oxygen‐Free Atmospheres

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a practical framework for creating oxygen‐free atmospheres at ambient pressure using silane‐doped inert gases. The results show that ultra‐low oxygen levels and strongly reduced water content can be achieved through controlled silane dosing, drying systems, and sensor monitoring.

High-precision and fast-response laser power stabilization system for cold atom experiments

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2018
An innovative and practical scheme of building laser power stabilization system is proposed by using external-control method. A high-speed Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) is used as real-time controller, which makes the closed-loop control period of

Tailored Hierarchical Porous Copper Architectures via Three Dimensional Printing and Pressure‐less Sintering for Next‐Generation Lithium‐Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A hierarchical porous copper current collector is fabricated via three‐dimensional printing combined with pressureless sintering to stabilize lithium metal anodes. The interconnected architecture lowers local current density, guides uniform Li deposition within pores, and suppresses dendrite growth.
