Laser fusion cutting: The missing link between gas dynamics and cut edge topography

open access: yes, 2023
In laser cutting, the fundamental role of the gas flow for melt removal and kerf formation is generally accepted. Beyond this vague understanding, however, the underlying physical mechanisms are not yet fully understood.

Functional Optical Coherence Tomography of Rat Cortical Neurovascular Activation during Monopulse Electrical Stimulation with the Microelectrode Array

open access: yesPhotonics
This paper presents a study to evoke rat cortical functional activities, including hemodynamic and neural tissue signal changes, by monopulse electrical stimulation with a microelectrode array using functional optical coherence tomography (fOCT).

Large aperture and non-critical phase-matched fourth harmonic generation of Nd:Glass lasers

open access: yesMatter and Radiation at Extremes, 2019
A fourth harmonic generation (FHG) scheme in focusing beams is proposed and demonstrated for large aperture Nd:glass laser facilities. By placing the focusing lens before the FHG crystal, the problem of ultraviolet damage can be overcome, largely without

First magnifying neutron/x-ray combined radiography at Shenguang laser facility

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2022
Neutron/x-ray combined radiography can integrate the merits of x-ray and neutron radiography and have an enhanced non-destructive detecting capability compared to single neutron or x-ray radiography.

A new flow chip in combination with multiphoton microscopy as a protocol for longitudinal 3D imaging of tissue calcification under shear stress

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Miniaturized flow chip platform enabling continuous perfusion and longitudinal multiphoton 3D imaging of vascular smooth muscle cell constructs under physiological flow. Brightfield imaging guides region selection, while CellTracker Green and mRuby‐labeled fetuin‐A visualize cells and mineral deposition, respectively. Magnesium supplementation markedly

Accurate and noninvasive prostate cancer detection using plasma‐derived extracellular vesicle RNA

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Plasma extracellular vesicles were captured with WGA‐conjugated magnetic beads and profiled for RNA biomarkers. A three‐RNA panel (NM_024955, NR_047469, and NR_002564) distinguished prostate cancer from healthy controls and benign prostatic hyperplasia, supporting a simple, noninvasive approach to improve prostate cancer detection.

Process development for laser powder bed fusion of GRCop-42 using a 515 nm laser source

open access: yes, 2023
Copper is widely used in high heat flux and electrical applications because of its excellent electrical and thermal conductivity properties. Alloying elements such as chromium or nickel are added to strengthen the material, especially for higher ...

Purification and preparation of Marchantia polymorpha Auxin Response Factor 2 for phase separation studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe detailed protocols for the purification and preparation of Marchantia polymorpha Auxin Response Factor 2 (MpARF2). This protein is fused to an MBP solubility tag and an mNG fluorescent tag and is purified from Escherichia coli. The presented procedures make it possible to study MpARF2 assemblies, which could arise from phase separation ...

Ultraviolet spectral broadening by stimulated rotational Raman scattering on nitrogen pumped with signal laser injection

open access: yesMatter and Radiation at Extremes
We present experimental results on kilojoule ultraviolet laser output with 1% spectral broadening. Through stimulated rotational Raman scattering (SRRS) with signal laser injection, we achieve effective spectral broadening in short-range propagation ...
