Unlocking the Multifunctional Properties of Litsea cubeba Essential Oil: Composition, Antimicrobial, Antibiofilm and Insecticidal Activities

open access: yesFlavour and Fragrance Journal, EarlyView.
Unveiling the chemical and biological properties of Litsea cubeba essential oil. ABSTRACT Litsea cubeba essential oil (LCEO) is recognised for its broad spectrum of biological activities, including antimicrobial and insecticidal effects, making it a promising natural alternative to synthetic agents.

Energy and wavelength scaling of shock-ignited inertial fusion targets

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2013
In inertial fusion shock ignition, separation of the stages of fuel compression and hot spot creation introduces some degree of design flexibility. A lower implosion velocity can be compensated for by a more intense ignition pulse.

Laser diode ignition characteristics of Zirconium Potassium Perchlorate (ZPP) [PDF]

open access: yes
Hi-Shear Technology, Corp., (HSTC) has designed and built a Laser equivalent NASA Standard Initiator (LNSI). Langlie tests with a laser diode output initiating ZPP were conducted as a part of this effort.

Generation of focusing ion beams by magnetized electron sheath acceleration. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
We present the first 3D fully kinetic simulations of laser driven sheath-based ion acceleration with a kilotesla-level applied magnetic field. The application of a strong magnetic field significantly and beneficially alters sheath based ion acceleration ...

Holocene sea‐level and environmental changes on the Isle of Mull, Scotland

open access: yesJournal of Quaternary Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Sea‐level and coastal changes are reconstructed on the Isle of Mull, western Scotland, from 10 988 to 10 507 cal BP to the present. This research has produced the first SLIP for the Isle of Mull. A multiproxy approach including pollen, spore, foraminifera and diatom analyses reveals palaeoenvironmental changes from two coastal sites.

Studying solid fuel ignition by CO2-laser

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2017
The ignition data on Siberian bituminous coal and lignite by a continuous CO2-laser were presented in current work. Measurements were carried out at the heat flux density range of 90–150 W/cm2 in air.

A pulsed, low-temperature beam of supersonically cooled free radical OH molecules

open access: yes, 2004
An improved system for creating a pulsed, low-temperature molecular beam of OH radicals has been developed. We use a pulsed discharge to create OH from H$_2$O seeded in Xe during a supersonic expansion, where the high-voltage pulse duration is ...

Holocene palaeoenvironmental reconstruction of sea level, coastal and vegetation changes along the southern Solway Firth, United Kingdom

open access: yesJournal of Quaternary Science, EarlyView.
Abstract Holocene relative sea level (RSL) changes were reconstructed from four sites along the less‐studied southern Solway Firth. A multiproxy approach, including lithostratigraphical and biostratigraphical analyses, combined with radiocarbon dating, produced ten sea level index points (SLIPs).

Nonlocal effects on the shock-augmented ignition scheme of laser inertial fusion

open access: yesPhysical Review Research
Shock-augmented ignition (SAI) has recently been proposed as a viable approach to optimize the shock ignition scheme of laser fusion, which may substantially reduce laser power and intensity requirements and, as a result, greatly inhibit the growth of ...
