Impact of laser beam shaping on weld pool and seam geometry in butt-joint welding with filler wire
Abstract Beam shaping offers a promising solution to address various challenges in laser-based processes. This study explores the use of an adaptive beam shaping solution using a deformable mirror for high-power continuous wave lasers. Specifically, the impact of three different elliptical beam shapes on weld pool geometry, weld cross ...

Thermomechanical fatigue tests of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB) Inconel 718 show that the additively manufactured material reaches almost the lifetimes of conventionally‐rolled material under no‐dwell conditions. Introducing dwell times at the maximum temperature markedly reduces the lifetimes due to pronounced grain boundary sliding associated

Effect of Laser Deoxidation on Adhesive‐Bonded Aluminum in an Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere
This study investigates laser ablation of aluminum under oxygen‐free conditions. The goal is to produce oxide‐free substrates that enable improved adhesive bonding with epoxy. Optimized laser parameters (90% overlap, 300 µJ) combined with oxide‐free substrates result in the highest tensile strength of the adhesive bond.

Possible explanations for different surface quality in laser cutting with 1 micron and 10 microns beams [PDF]
In laser cutting of thick steel sheets, quality difference is observed between cut surfaces obtained with 1 micron and 10 micron laser beams. This paper investigates physical mechanisms for this interesting and important problem of the wavelength ...

Thermophysical Properties of the Desulphurization Slags With Various CaS and CaO/Al2O3 Ratio
This article investigates how CaS content and the CaO/Al2O3 ratio influence the thermophysical properties of desulphurization slags. Using experimental measurements and thermodynamic simulations, this study reveals complex effects on viscosity, surface tension, and density, providing new insight into slag structure and phase behavior under ...
