This study investigates the use of direct laser interference patterning (DLIP) to enhance oxygen bubble nucleation on nickel surfaces by creating periodic microstructures with controlled spatial periods and depths. The results demonstrate that smaller spatial periods (Λ) and deeper features significantly improve bubble density and detachment dynamics ...

Nanolignin Functional Separators for Flexible Lithium–Sulfur Batteries With Enhanced Performance
Nanolignin‐functionalized separators, incorporating lignin nanoparticles into a crosslinked PEGDA coating applied on commercial separators, reduce polysulfide shuttling, thereby enhancing cycling performance in flexible lithium–sulfur pouch cells, while also improving thermo‐oxidative stability and flame retardancy.

We systematically summarize how each scale dictates fundamental choices in design feature, manufacturing technology, driving mechanism, and control strategy, which are inherently governed by scale‐dominated physical principles. Furthermore, the application of scale‐determined operation modes of microrobots across different stages of medical ...

Laser-induced periodic surface structures (LIPSS) have gained significant attention due to their ability to modify the surface morphology of materials at the micro-nanoscale and show great promise for surface functionalization application. In this study, we specifically investigate the formation of LIPSS in silicon substrates and explore their impact ...

Investigation of Laser-Induced Surface Structures (LIPSS) on quartz and evaluation of their influence on material wettability [PDF]
We report here on a study of the generation of Laser-Induced Periodic Surface Structures (LIPSS) on quartz upon irradiation with linearly polarized femto-second laser pulses (pulse duration τ = 200 fs and central wavelength λ = 1030 nm).

Tribological Properties of High-Speed Uniform Femtosecond Laser Patterning on Stainless Steel
In this work, an analysis of the tribological performance of laser-induced periodic surface structures (LIPSS) treated X5CrNi1810 stainless steel was conducted. The approach followed by authors was to generate LIPSS-patterned circular tracks, composed of

ANALYSIS OF MODELS OF FORMATION OF LASER-INDUCED PERIODIC SURFACE STRUCTURES (LIPSS)
The modern development of functional surfaces with programmable tribological and aerodynamic properties requires the creation of complex multiscale reliefs. Laser surface texturing (LST) has become a leading technology in this field due to its high precision and reproducibility.
