A new method of anticancer drugs activity screening with the use of laser interference microscopy

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2020
This work presents the results of one of the stages of a new method developed for in vitro drugs activity efficiency assessment with the use of anticancer drugs porous carriers and laser interference microscopy (LIM). MCF-7 breast cancer cell studies were conducted by the laser interference microscopy method after the treatment of doxorubicin ...

Examination of laser hardened steel surfaces using interference microscopy

Journal of Laser Applications, 2005
A diode laser beam in the near-infrared region is absorbed more efficiently by a metal surface than a CO2 or a Nd:yttrium-aluminum-garnet laser beam. Diode laser transformation hardening without an absorptive coating is feasible even in an inert gas atmosphere.

Laser Modulation Interference Microscopy as a Means of Controlling the Form and Roughness of Optical Surfaces

Measurement Techniques, 2015
The use of the technology of modulation interference microscopy as an effective means of quality control of precision optical surfaces with roughness on the order of 1 nm and flatness up to 10 nm at an aperture up to 100 mm is considered.

Interference Phenomena Observed on an Atomic Force Microscope Cantilever by Laser Confocal Microscopy

Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, 2011
We investigated interference phenomena that were observed on a cantilever bar of an atomic force microscope by using a laser confocal microscope (LCM). First, we established a simple model and calculated the fringe interval. Interference fringe patterns were observed under the following conditions: (1) changing the focus and confocal aperture of ...

Precise protein solubility determination by Laser confocal differential interference contrast microscopy

Journal of Crystal Growth, 2009
We describe a method for precisely measuring the solubility of proteins in aqueous solution using laser confocal differential interference contrast microscopy. The method is based on the in situ observation of single steps on a protein crystal surface which allows a fast and precise determination of solubility as a function of temperature.

Real time laser interference microscopy for bar‐spread polystyrene/poly(methyl methacrylate) blends

Journal of Polymer Science Part B: Polymer Physics, 2014
ABSTRACTWe demonstrate that real‐time laser interference microscopy can be used to directly observe the dynamics of film formation and phase separation processes for a bar‐spread polystyrene/poly(methyl methacrylate) blend. The ability to dynamically image laser interference patterns allows compete drying curves and polymer content to be determined ...

The Use of Laser Differential Interference Contrast Microscopy for the Characterization of Starch Granule Ring Structure

Starch - Stärke, 2006
AbstractA laser differential interference contrast (DIC) microscopy protocol was developed for the visualization of starch growth rings in an optical section series. Potato and maize starches were observed with this new technique. Partial lintnerization was necessary to visualize the rings.

Laser-diode fizeau interference microscopy with a phase-shifting technique: error analysis

16th Congress of the International Commission for Optics: Optics as a Key to High Technology, 1993
A laser-diode (LD) heterodyne interferometer with a BaTiO3 self-pumped phase-conjugate (PC) mirror in place of the usual mirrors is presented. The phase is shifted to produce a spatially uniform phase change uncancelled by a phase conjugator be- tween the two beams of an interferometer.

Laser interference microscopy of amphibian erythrocytes: impact of cell volume and refractive index.

Journal of microscopy, 2012
This study examined the action of anisosmotic media on the volume of nucleated erythrocytes isolated from Rana temporaria. Elevation of medium osmolarity from 100 to 345 mOsm resulted in attenuation of mean cell volume by more than 3-fold, estimated by hematocrit measurement. By contrast to this 'classic' erythrocyte volume evaluation technique, we did
