Coherence loss and revivals in atomic interferometry: A quantum-recoil analysis

open access: yes, 2012
The coherence effects induced by external photons coupled to matter waves inside a Mach-Zehnder three-grating interferometer are analyzed. Alternatively to atom-photon entanglement scenarios, the model considered here only relies on the atomic wave ...

Biolipid Film‐Fused Electrochemiluminescence for Multipurpose In Situ Bioassays

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An ECL‐emissive, membrane‐interactive scaffold was fabricated, and facilely fused with natural and non‐native phospholipids into multifactorial mimicries of cytomembranes and vesicles for in vitro representative membrane‐process probing. Such a biointerface‐based, state‐sensitive ECL paradigm not only pinpointed proximal phenomena, including channeling

External Modulation Laser Module Assembly for Improving Measurement Performance of Homodyne Interferometry

open access: yesSensors, 2020
An external modulation laser module assembly (EMLMA) is proposed to suppress nonlinear errors in an interferometry system and improve its measurement performance.

Frequency Noise Properties of Lasers for Interferometry in Nanometrology [PDF]

open access: yesSensors, 2013
In this contribution we focus on laser frequency noise properties and their influence on the interferometric displacement measurements. A setup for measurement of laser frequency noise is proposed and tested together with simultaneous measurement of fluctuations in displacement in the Michelson interferometer.

Cells Dynamically Adapt Their Nuclear Volumes and Proliferation Rates During Single to Multicellular Transitions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
It is currently not well understood how cells regulate basic properties, e.g., volume and mechanics within dense multicellular environments like tumors. Here, we show that different cell types of cancer and also normal cells largely decrease their nuclear and cellular volumes in emerging cell clusters and that this is partly driven by cell cycle shifts.

Observation of Extraneous Axial Cavity Modes of a Single-Mode Solid-State Laser Using Ultrahigh-Contrast Fabry–Perot Interferometry

open access: yesApplied Spectroscopy Practica
Extraneous axial optical cavity modes produced by a single-mode frequency-doubled neodymium-doped yttrium orthovanadate (Nd:YVO 4 ) laser were observed in spectra obtained via ultrahigh-contrast Fabry–Perot interferometry.

Process Control Monitor (PCM) for Simultaneous Determination of the Piezoelectric Coefficients d31 and d33 of AlN and AlScN Thin Films

open access: yesMicromachines, 2022
Accurate and efficient measurements of the piezoelectric properties of AlN and AlScN films are very important for the design and simulation of micro-electro-mechanical system (MEMS) sensors and actuator devices.

Laser‐Self‐Mixing Interferometry for Mechatronics Applications [PDF]

open access: yesSensors, 2009
We report on the development of an all-interferometric optomechatronic sensor for the detection of multi-degrees-of-freedom displacements of a remote target. The prototype system exploits the self-mixing technique and consists only of a laser head, equipped with six laser sources, and a suitably designed reflective target. The feasibility of the system

DNA Nanoarray for Multiplexed RNA Detection With Single‐Molecule Readout

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A carrier‐based DNA nanoarray integrates programmable nucleic acid hybridization with solid‐state nanopore readout for direct RNA detection at single‐molecule resolution. A ternary encoding system enables 27 carriers with 81 addressable sensing sites, allowing the simultaneous identification of targets spanning a wide size range, from short microRNAs ...

Wavefront Line‐Scan Imaging Via a Single‐Pixel Detector

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We propose and demonstrate a wavefront line‐scan imaging paradigm that integrates 1D spatial light modulation with single‐pixel detection. Benefiting from 1D modulation, not only is the imaging speed improved, but also the storage of modulation patterns is reduced by several orders of magnitude.
