Robot posture generation method for laser melting deposition

Industrial Robot: the international journal of robotics research and application, 2020
Purpose This paper aims to provide a posture generation method of robot deposition paths based on intersection topology, which is helpful to contribute to improving the flexibility and deposition capability of the deposition system. Design/methodology/approach Via the geometry information and normal vector information of the stereolithography (STL ...

Laser deposition melting of TC4/TiAl functionally graded material

Vacuum, 2020
Abstract Ti-6Al-4V(TC4)/Ti-48Al-2Cr-2Nb(TiAl) functionally graded material (FGM) with no metallurgical defects was successfully fabricated by laser deposition melting (LDM) without preheating. Results showed that the TC4/TiAl FGM can effectively reduce the difference in thermal expansion coefficients (TEC) between TC4 and TiAl, thereby eliminating ...

A comparison on microstructure features of 24CrNiMo low alloy steel prepared by selective laser melting and laser melting deposition

Vacuum, 2021
Abstract In this study, microstructural features of 24CrNiMo low alloy steel fabricated by selective laser melting (SLM) and laser melting deposition (LMD) were characterized and compared using advanced electron microscopy and electron backscatter diffraction techniques. The results showed that the microstructures with different microstructure types,

Laser Additive Manufacturing LAM - Fundamentals of Selective Laser Melting SLM and Laser Material Deposition LMD

CLEO: 2014, 2014
With Additive Manufacturing AM, parts can be manufactured for design instead of being designed for manufacture. This tutorial introduces the two laser based AM processes, Selective Laser Melting SLM and Laser Material Deposition LMD.

Surface melting of metal deposits during laser-induced chemical vapor deposition with a modulated continuous-wave laser

Applied Physics Letters, 1990
Thermal laser-induced chemical vapor deposition of gold crystals on alumina substrates has been studied using a modulated Ar+ laser. Deposition of gold from dimethylgold hexafluoroacetylacetonate is accompanied by surface melting of the deposit when the laser source is modulated.

Hot working behavior of selective laser melted and laser metal deposited Inconel 718

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2018
The production of Nickel-based high-temperature components is of great importance for the transport and energy sector. Forging of high-temperature alloys often requires expensive dies, multiple forming steps and leads to forged parts with tolerances that require machining to create the final shape and a large amount of scrap.

Variant selection in laser melting deposited α + β titanium alloy

Journal of Alloys and Compounds, 2016
Abstract Variant selection in laser melting deposited (LMD) α + β titanium alloy (TC21) was investigated using linear thermal expansion and EBSD test. At micro level, volume change of lattice is anisotropic during solid phase transformation in titanium alloy.

Characterization of deposited layer fabricated by direct laser melting process

Metals and Materials International, 2013
Deposition dimensions are important in the final applications of products made by direct laser melting (DLM). This investigation used a 200 W fiber laser to produce single-line beads from stainless steel 316L powder using a variety of different energy distributions.

Fatigue crack branching in laser melting deposited Ti–55511 alloy

International Journal of Fatigue, 2019
Abstract Significant crack branching was observed in constant amplitude fatigue crack growth test of laser melting deposited Ti–55511 alloy. Fracture microscopic observations indicate that the orderly distributed αp laths is the most important factor as it contributes a lot to the initiation of secondary cracks and coalescence of microcracks ...
