A novel gradient composite material CrMnFeCoNiB2C0.5 prepared by laser melting deposition
Materials Science and Engineering: A, 2023A novel gradient composite of CrMnFeCoNiB2C0.5 was prepared by laser melting deposition (LMD). The heat accumulation during LMD results in thin-walled structure that exhibit significant structural gradients. The material was tested with an ultimate compressive stress of 1.56 ± 0.067 GPa and a compressive strain of 19.17 ± 1.96%.

Effect of Deposition Strategy on Fatigue Behavior of Laser Melting Deposition 12CrNi2 Alloy Steel
2019 IEEE 4th Optoelectronics Global Conference (OGC), 2019In this paper, the 12CrNi2 alloy steel parts were fabricated by laser melting deposition (LMD) using two kinds of deposition strategies, which were single direction scanning(SDS) and cross direction scanning(CDS). The microstructure and fatigue behavior of LMD 12CrNi2 alloy steel samples were investigated.

Mechanical and electrochemical corrosion properties of titanium by laser melting deposition
Applied Physics A, 2021In this work, samples of pure titanium (TA2) deposited on Ti-6AL-4V substrate using laser melting deposition (LMD) were prepared and microstructure, wear resistance, and corrosion behavior of the deposited material were characterized. The results showed that the microstructure of TA2 has acicular α' phases and platelet α phases structure due to the ...

Additive manufacturing processes are frequently discussed in a competitive manner instead of being considered synergetically. This is particularly unfavorable since advanced machining processes in combination with additive manufacturing can be brought to the point that the results could not be achieved with the individual constituent processes in ...

Prediction of melt pool depth and dilution in laser powder deposition
Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 2006This paper presents a mathematical model of laser powder deposition (LPD) to predict temperature field, melt pool depth and dilution. The model validated by experiments is developed using the moving heat source method. In this method, the temperature distribution inside the clad and the substrate is obtained using the superposition principle and the ...

Development of a Melt Pool Tracking Vision System for Laser Deposition
2009This paper chronicles the development of a vision system for tracking melt pool morphology in the laser metal deposition process. This development is to augment an existing temperature feedback control system. Monitoring both the temperature and shape of the melt pool is necessary because of the effects of local geometry on the cooling rate at the melt
