Laser interferometry based seismic sensor

SPIE Proceedings, 2003
Laser interferometry is one of the most sensitive and versatile techniques for small relative displacements measurement. For these reasons it is used or it is being introduced in many different fields of research. One of its possible applications is seismic activity monitoring, obtained by fixing the mirrors of an interferometer to the ground. In order

Laser Line-Scanning Sensors

Optical Engineering, 1975
A brief review of the history of the development of laser line-scanning sensors at Perkin-Elmer is given, culminating in the KA-98( ). This development, traced over the past 11 years by means of descriptions of a number of sensors, is characterized by a trend towards improved performance at lower cost, size, and weight.

Chemical imaging sensor and laser beacon

Applied Optics, 2003
Design and functional aspects of PANSPEC, a panoramic-imaging chemical vapor sensor (PANSPEC is an abbreviation for infrared panoramic-viewing spectroradiometer), were advanced and its optical system reoptimized accordingly. The PANSPEC model unites camera and fused solid-state interferometer and photopolarimeter subsystems. The camera is an eye of the

Polymer Laser Bio-sensors

Advanced Photonics, 2014
Organic dye based distributed feed-back lasers, featuring narrow linewidth and thus high quality spectral resolution, are used as highly sensitive refractive index sensors. The design, fabrication and application of the laser intra-cavity sensors are discussed.

Brillouin Fiber Laser Sensors

2020
A single longitudinal mode (SLM) Brillouin fiber laser (BFL) with cascaded ring (CR) Fabry–Perot resonator, a SLM triple ring (TR) BFL with a saturable absorber ring (SAR) resonator and a stable multiwavelength (MW) SLM dual ring BFL (MW-SLM-DRBFL) are proposed and demonstrated.

Wide-angle laser sensor

Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, 1982
Laser sensors play an important role as optical countermeasures to laser target designation. It is essential that the sensor be capable of detecting the illumination by a laser beam, the wavelength, and the angle of incidence over a wide field-of-view (FOV). Current laser sensors rely on the temporal coherence of lasers and use Michelson interferometry.

Laser refractory wear sensor

ICALEO '83: Proceedings of the Inspection, Measurement and Control Symposium, 1983
The refractory wear sensor is a laser-based electro-optical device that is lowered into a hot steelmaking vessel immediately after the molten steel has been poured out. The water-cooled sensor measures the radial cylindrical coordinate of the refractory wall lining from inside the hot vessel by laser triangulation.
