Spark Plasma Sintering and Characterization of NiCoCrAlY-Ta Superalloy Powder [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In the present study, the spark plasma sintering technique is used to densify commercial alloy NiCoCrAlY-Ta. Such powder was sintered at temperatures ranging between 900 and 1050 °C to yield various microstructures. Full compaction is achieved in a short

In Situ Study of Resistive Switching in a Nitride‐Based Memristive Device

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In situ TEM biasing experiment demonstrates the volatile I‐V characteristic of MIM lamella device. In situ STEM‐EELS Ti L2/L3 ratio maps provide direct evidence of the oxygen vacancies migrations under positive/negative electrical bias, which is critical for revealing the RS mechanism for the MIM lamella device.

Multiscale Structuring of Hydroxyapatite via Two‐Photon Lithography of Nanocomposites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Hydroxyapatite scaffolds are of great interest in bone tissue engineering applications, ranging from 3D cell culture to regenerative medicine. Using two‐photon lithography of a transparent nanocomposite, hydroxyapatite microstructures with features ranging from submicron to centimeter‐scale are fabricated. This allows to mimic the natural bone geometry,

PEDOT‐Based Eutectogel Electrode Arrays for Enhanced High‐Resolution Electrogastrography: Fabrication, Stability, and Wearable Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Here, we present a high‐density PEDOT eutectogel electrode array for enhanced body surface gastric mapping. Silver electrodes are blade‐coated onto flexible substrates, followed by electrogelation of PEDOT:PSS and the deposition of a PEDOT:LS eutectogel.

Interrogating marine virus-host interactions and elemental transfer with BONCAT and nanoSIMS-based methods [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
While the collective impact of marine viruses has become more apparent over the last decade, a deeper understanding of virus-host dynamics and the role of viruses in nutrient cycling would benefit from direct observations at the single-virus level.

Oral Dosed Organo‐Silica Nanoparticles Restore Glucose Homeostasis and β‐Cell Function in Diabetes Rats

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An oral nanoplatform, MOP@T@D, which can maintain glucose homeostasis and restore islet β cells in diabetic rats is developed. It achieves efficient intestinal absorption and liver‐targeted delivery. The nanoparticle disintegrates only in response to hyperglycemia to release insulin on demand and provides antioxidant protection through selenoprotein ...

Cometary particulate analyzer [PDF]

open access: yes
A concept for determining the relative abundance of elements contained in cometary particulates was evaluated. The technique utilizes a short, high intensity burst of laser radiation to vaporize and ionize collected particulate material.
