Unresonant interaction of laser beams with microdroplets [PDF]
The interaction of distilled water droplets (volumes of 3-4 µl) with pulsed laser beams emitted at 532 nm is described. At 532 nm the distilled water absorption is very low and the interaction of a water droplet with the laser radiation is dominated by ...

Lead-Free Perovskite Thin Films for Gas Sensing through Surface Acoustic Wave Device Detection
Thin film technology shows great promise in fabricating electronic devices such as gas sensors. Here, we report the fabrication of surface acoustic wave (SAW) sensors based on thin films of (1 − x) Ba(Ti0.8Zr0.2)O3−x(Ba0.7Ca0.3)TiO3 (BCTZ50, x = 50) and ...

Non-destructive methods for fruit quality evaluation
This work studies the evolution in time of several varieties of apples with application in quality storage maintenance. Two different methods were used to evaluate long-stored apples for better sorting and degradation assessment.

Implementation of Ag/ SiO2 nanofilms for metamaterial engineering
Low dimensions of the nanostructured thin films are essential in applications of miniaturized optical systems. Noble metal thin films of different thicknesses (4–10 nm) were obtained by radio frequency magnetron sputtering (rfMS) with controlled ...

Laser guiding for GeV laser–plasma accelerators [PDF]
Guiding of relativistically intense laser beams in preformed plasma channels is discussed for development of GeV-class laser accelerators. Experiments using a channel guided laser wakefield accelerator at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) have demonstrated that near mono-energetic 100 MeV-class electron beams can be produced with a 10 TW ...

Optical spectrum behaviour of a coupled laser system under chaotic synchronization conditions [PDF]
Synchronization characteristics of two bidirectionally coupled semiconductor lasers, one operating in a chaotic regime with low-frequency fluctuations and the other with free laser beam emission, were experimentally investigated.

In laser-driven plasma wakefield accelerators, the accelerating electric field is orders of magnitude stronger than in conventional radio-frequency particle accelerators, but the dephasing between the ultrarelativistic electron bunch and the wakefield ...

Laser shaping and optimization of the laser-plasma interaction [PDF]
The physics of energy transfer between the laser and the plasma in laser wakefield accelerators is studied. We find that wake excitation by arbitrary laser shapes can be parameterized using the total pulse energy and pulse depletion length. A technique for determining laser profiles that produce the required plasma excitation is developed. We show that

Recent experimental results on NIF revealed a much higher stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) and stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) backscatter than expected; one possible reason was due to the coherence between incident laser beams.
