Focus-position sensing using laser speckle

Applied Optics, 1979
The laser speckle resulting from a beam focused in proximity to a nonspecular surface has been examined, and a relationship between the speckle velocity and the distance from focus of the nonspecular surface is derived. An empirical verification of the relationship was performed, and the ability to determine surface position with respect to focus was ...

Lasers and Speckle Patterns

1983
In the infrared, visible and ultraviolet region, there are three main kinds of sources : thermal sources which radiate at virtually all wavelengths (e.g. solid hot bodies and hot gases under high pressure), thermal sources giving line spectra (gase discharge tubes under low pressure), lasers.

Laser Pulse Speckle Effects.

1977
Abstract : The fluctuations of a scattered laser pulse resulting from the illumination of uncorrelated, rough-surface areas of a target are examined. Amplitude fluctuations are treated as a random process with stationary increments. LADAR range-Doppler images can n be degraded by these fluctuations.
