High-resolution and broadband all-fiber spectrometers
The development of optical fibers has revolutionized telecommunications by enabling long-distance broad-band transmission with minimal loss. In turn, the ubiquity of high-quality low-cost fibers enabled a number of additional applications, including ...

Microsphere Autolithography—A Scalable Approach for Arbitrary Patterning of Dielectric Spheres
MicroSphere Autolithography (µSAL) enables scalable fabrication of patchy particles with customizable surface motifs. Focusing light through dielectric microspheres creates well defined, tunable patches via a conformal poly(dopamine) photoresist. Nearly arbitrary surface patterns can be achieved, with the resolution set by the index contrast between ...

Real-Time Laser Speckle Imaging of Blood Flow with High Gray Level and High Resolution
Laser speckle contrast imaging (LSCI) is a large measurement ranging, real-time, high spatial resolution optical imaging method. Exisiting reserches show that the low gray level (8-bit) and low resolution (752×480 pixels) camera can effectively monitor ...

Laser vibrometry meets laser speckle
This paper begins with a review of the fundamental mechanism by which speckle noise is generated in Laser Vibrometry before describing a new numerical simulation of speckle behavior for prediction of noise level in a real measurement. The simulation data provides real insight into the phase and amplitude modulation of the Doppler signal as a result of ...

Controlled laser‐drilling of embedded HfO2 membranes creates three layer nanopores with Gaussian‐shaped cavities sculptured in the supporting layers. These embedded solid‐state nanopores slow DNA translocation by 12‐fold compared to SiNx pores, enabling high‐resolution, label‐free detection of short DNAs, RNAs, and proteins.

Speckle Theory for Arbitrary Wavefront Illumination in Free-Space Surface Scattering
Speckle has been shown to cause significant degradation to the imaging quality of laser imaging systems. However, in certain complex imaging environments, it can also act as an effective information carrier.

Zwitterion-doped liquid crystal speckle reducers for immersive displays and vectorial imaging
Lasers possess many attractive features (e.g., high brightness, narrow linewidth, well-defined polarization) that make them the ideal illumination source for many different scientific and technological endeavors relating to imaging and the display of ...

Objective speckle displacement resulting from the deformation of shaped objects [PDF]
This paper describes an extended theory of the displacement of the objective speckle pattern resulting from displacement and/or deformation of a coherently illuminated diffuse object where the influence of the surface shape is included via the linear ...
